So i'm down sizing the fleet at the moment and i'm down to my DD(1994 infiniti g20-t ) and my project car (1985 toyota mr2) . So one of them has to go and i'm having a hell of a time picking lol I thinking i want to keep the Mr2 but the g20 is such a good DD.

The Mr2 has had the full suspension, steering and brakes upgraded or rebuilt. Poly bushings and coilovers installed plus the engine and trans rebuild. The interior still needs work but its all there but the AC doesn't work at the moment.

The G20-t has a retro fitted larger rear swaybar, new shocks and poly bushings in the front and exedy stage 1 clutch. Along with new ball joints and front wheel bearings and other maintenance done. The factory touring interior is mint except for the steering wheel and the AC will freeze you out of the car lol. The only down side is the car has 230k on the stock sr20de but it has great compression and runs like a top plus things like power steering, cruise control and a large truck and back seat.

So who here has given up a perfectly good DD to keep there project Car?

Keep the mr2. Easier to find another comfy dd when the time comes to grow your fleet again.

When my Accord blew up, then the replacement beater asploded, my project Starlet became my DD.
Then she blew up.
Can't say I recommend it, can't say it's an awful idea either.

This. If you sell an AW11 you're not getting one back again. Comfortable DDs are a dime a dozen.

most my DD's are project cars due to the fact i cant leave well enough alone.

my current DD is the camry due to the neon being in paint and body.

id say see if you can keep both. just pull the insurance off of one, as either one you sell wont be at a break even point at this time in the economy. you'll lose money in the long run.

personally id keep the G20, but im a little biased..... or if you can economically fix whats broke on the MR2, it may work. try DDing it for the next 2 weeks and see what you think.

I DD a (pos) aircooled Beetle, no heat, no air, drafty. Bundle up in the winter, pull the windows out in the summer.

Depends on the commute length. 10 minutes? Keep the MR2. 2 hours? Well... I'd still keep the MR2.

There was a brief period of time when I had to drive my '65 Mustang fastback to work because my DD Honda Civic wasn't running.

I can't afford a project and a dd cuz my rallycar takes up all spare change. Oh wait. I guess that makes the rallycar my project and my totally frankensteined project car my dd. Nevermind.

I DD my project truck for a few months until I got my new project. Now I'm DD it. It would almost be strange not to have a DD that needs something.

This my sentiment as well.
What car(s) are similar to a G20? Many.
What car(s) are similar to a MR2?

Sure, there are some but that are hard to find at bargain prices.

I sold my MR2 SC 8 years ago due to unemployment and thought I would someday buy another. I have not and I am sure I will not find one.

It's not "my project car" but could be considered "a project car."

I DD the MX6.

I've DD my 84 Celica Supra project, for over a year now, no AC and i live almost at the southern tip of Texas. A 5spd and a 4.7:1 rear. I row through the gears like crazy, sweat my ass off all the way to work, and am slowly getting an ache in my left knee...in short their are very few days i've wanted a second car as a daily, and mostly only because i want another project lol. KEEP THE PROJECT

I have a 2004 Grand Am with all the creature comforts (A/C, radio) that has sat in my driveway, literally, for the past 3 weeks so that I can drive my radio-less, A/C-less CVCC to work every day.

Never had a good DD. I've been DD-ing the GVR4 for 12 years now. Poly bushings, no A/C, lowered/stiffened Evo8 suspension, etc. Once in a while I mix it up and drive the FD in all it's racing seat/no radio glory. Some days I think I should get a nice quiet comfortable car but I'm not dealing with registering, inspecting, emissions testing, county personal property taxes, city sticker taxes, insuring and maintaining yet another vehicle.

lol to be honest the g20 is my first true normal DD lol I use to DD drive a stripped 89 honda crx with a swap, then a 87 Supra turbo targa (350whp) but i've also had an ef hatch,240sx, mk2 jetta lol but i will say the G20 as spoiled me and i won't be DD the MR2 until i get the AC straighten out lol

I daily-drive my project car every day that the weather isn't hideous. I drive my beater if the weather is ugly or I have to leave my vehicle parked someplace "untrustworthy."

Keep the MR2, its not that bad and you CAN fix the AC on it.

I have worked very hard to reach a point in my life where my daily driver is not a project car. I have projects, toys, and beaters, but the daily driver is just that and no more.

I DD'd my mk1 mr2 for 6 years, so I'm going to be a bit biased. I also think it would be difficult and/or a lot of work to replace an example like yours.

Of course, this is coming from a guy who just bought a 3rd car for the household so he wouldn't have to risk his mr2 on the daily drive or live without AC (mine's busted too). That said, I'm keeping mine.
