I've got my shells prepped, new skins at the ready. Got my air hammer and skin zipper. Got a doorskin hammer and a dolly for creases and corners. Any advice for a door skinning noob?

The original skins were spot welded on the flap at maybe 6" centers. I'm guessing I need to do that to the new skins?

TIA!

I think most everybody uses panel adhesive now, instead of spot welds. It seals the edge completely, doesn't burn the metal treatment off...

Be careful while crimping/dollying to not damage the outside of the panel with the edge of the tool. Its tough to keep everything flat while you are working it.

I have!

Panel adhesive is the way to go, no one spot welds anymore. Ideally, you'd use an air powered door skin crimper, at the body shop I worked at it was expected that no filler would be used; with care you should be able to leave the outside in perfect shape. All there really is to it is patience. You'll probably need to MIG weld the skin to old door where it meets the window frame.

Okay, panel adhesive it is. Yes, there are a couple spots along the top edge of the door that I'll weld. Already got the air powered skin crimper. I'll post a follow-up in a few days.
