"Your tank will arrive at the seaport closest to you, at which point you make yourself known to trucking companies through a series of peculiar phone calls." I like it.

I saw a tank (M1?) going down the highway with the rest of a convoy. It's turret was point backwards and was in the middle of said convoy. But it was quite the show stopper. I think you need the rubber pads in the track to do that.
Slow, thirsty, and utterly pointless. You'd think "maybe awesome off-road". Nope, tanks suck at that too and AAA is going to laugh when you call them to tow you out of some boggy ground.
I did see an M1 blow a hole clean through one of these in the Storm. Kinda like a .22 through a beer can.

I would've loved to have seen that try to navigate the stupid not quite a circle in the middle of the town centre. Or have a stand off with the light rail.
True, but this raises utterly pointless to an art form. And while $50,000 is a lot of money, there's a lot of people who would spend a smaller chunk of change for a chance to drive it around an obstacle course. Get a tank or two, a plot of land without too many pesky zoning restrictions, a couple junk cars, and you're in business.

They all have rubber pads. The M1 will do 60+ on pavement without much issue. Turret backwards is standard for travel, takes up the smallest footprint that way (also, driver cant see the gun barrel).
In reply to Dietcoke:
probably helps with FPG as well. (I doubt they get a mile, so I'm going with feet).

Already being done: Drive a tank
That's a lot of rubber on the road if you think about it. Go to 1:26 for a full emergency stop. That's 80 tons, kids.
He he
Hello and thank you for activating the T72 main battle tank. You may call me "Sheila".
Why are there 6-pedals and only four directions!?!
(for the uninformed: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=57lqGb5kFGc )
I had finally convinced my 13 y.o. he was never going to be able to buy a tank. Then you jokers come along.
Just an interesting semi-related story: http://www.foxnews.com/science/2015/07/06/found-in-78-year-old-cellar-wwii-tank/
Love the part about how he busted it out in to cruise around during a blizzard years ago.
