I don't trust cars with that little mileage. It's not a new car, it's a car that's sat for 20 years.

Why does a car that was supposedly never driven have an aftermarket stereo?

That stereo is awesome. I wish there were some 80's look decks available with ipod integration.

The only reason I can think of for a 21-year-old car with under 1000 miles is if it were owned by a collector. But then you wouldn't change the stereo or put on aftermarket wheels. I call shenanigans.

Only about 98% of the 1990s had the 5-speed, so it's rare.

Check out his other cars - for an extra $5k, you can get the exact same car but 16 years newer and with under 7,000 miles on it.

Miata with under 1000 miles? What a shame!

It is a '90 model, the first year. The VIN shows that it was the 11,987 ever made so that would likely mean that it was made in the first 4 months of production. If that was the case, the dealers were in the height of the feeding frenzy and really jacking up the prices.
As a base model it would have steel rims but the dealer likely added on the high profit items of alloy and radio.

Interesting to me is the window says $13,999. Opening MSRP when new was 13,500. No profit there. I can see having put away a Miata when they were new considering how they were unique enough at the time. Who would have thought that 20 years later the same basic car is still available?
Imagine buying a "67 Camaro - was an '87 Camaro really all that similar?
'64 Mustang vs '84 Mustang?
'53 Corvette vs '73 Corvette?

"Call for a CarFax report".

Let's see, I call for a CarFax report and they can tell me ANYTHING over the phone. With the Vin# in the ad, I'm better off running my own/unbiased CarFax report.

I'll never buy an ultra low mileage car ever again. I had a 91 Mustang GT that was bought with I believe 12k give or take a thousand. Nothing in 15 years was changed. Original brake fluid, coolant, shocks, brakes, fuel filter, etc. I put almost $1000 into it getting it to be able to drive every day. It also would overheat. The radiator also had a ton of corrosion in it and I'm assuming the engine cooling passages were equally clogged. My Miata was also a sitter, being a 92 with only 40k on it when I bought it. Another $500 and it was able to be driven. I still don't trust the CV joints because the rubber is very dry.

Useless knowledge- The Fujitsu Ten radio in that Miata was the company that turned into Eclipse Audio.

Even stranger, my '90 Miata base model has an Eclipse aftermarket radio and 12 disc CD changer from 1990.
Yes, it does list Eclipse as a brand of Fujitsu.

At first I thought the ad meant it had a 10 cassette jukebox style tape deck in it. I pictured in my mind a really tall car stereo with 10 cassette recepticles.

I'd want to know why it was repainted. The rockers under the doors should be black, and there's significant overspray in the radiator opening. Otherwise it sounds like an OK deal, especially with hardtop.

And a friend pointed out the mismatched paint on the original car above. Wonder what happened.

The paint job on that second one is a full-on hose job. Even the hinge balls on the mirrors got sprayed. Some people repaint the noses due to stone chips, lots of others repaint the rockers due to rust - fixed with sanding, bondo and a spray. Check the texture of the rockers to see for sure, but this car has a history.

It also has ABS. Bonus!
