That looks like two softball players who lost their gloves.

Woody, AFL Football makes American football look like chess for Bob Costas in padding, check it out.

There should be games on at that time so yes, if the Melbourne Formula 1 race is the chosen event

Holy crap. Now that is a finish to an enduro. Love the way those two big Holdens are just shouldering their way past everything else. The flaggers must actually wear out several blue flags over the course of the race.
I bet I could actually get Janel interested in a trip to Bathurst.
Autosport has a short piece about David Brabham competing this year. Something about him wanting to win Bathhurst in a V8 as opposed to the super touring car he won with previously. Autosport also has an incredible pic of a mini rolling in race at Queensland.
Hmm...Bathurst is on my bucket list. It'd be a tight squeeze for vacation time and budget stuff to fit in this year, but it sure is tempting. $2700 times two people just to get the ball rolling is a big pill to swallow! I assume if we share hotel rooms, it's cheaper...no? If you post where you're getting the package deal, I'd look into it myself. To be honest, that "package" sounds pretty extravagant. I'd readily do the four days of general admission + paddock pass ($153, it looks like?) and of course a hotel, but I don't much care about the rest...I'd rather spend that much more time seeing the city, surrounding areas, etc.
It would be awesome going with some other folks, especially those that know the area and speak Australian. I'd commit to a 2011 date, no doubt about it. I'm probably a 50% possibility for 2010.

I'm familiar with AFL Football, I just thought that photo was an odd choice.
Of course, Hurling is the real man's sport. It makes AFL Football look like chess for Bob Costas in padding, check it out.
The biggest part of the deal is the airfares, and if we are smart/lucky I can usually get much better prices for this but you have to ready to buy now when they come up. I will keep you posted on this but they don't wait.
Otherwise the rest is access, transfers, a couple of meals and accomodation. the only extravagance is the V8 Supercar "party" which would be a minimal difference really and why wouldn't you want to meet and talk to a Aussie V8Supercar driver.
We could drop the meals but have you ever bought racetrack food....$ and crappy.
It really is a good deal for what it includes and I did price another group without the party and the difference was $0 in fact they were more.
We can plan on 2011 and to do both, works for me.
So that said is anybody going to put there hand up.
Keith it would be awesome to have both you and Janel along for the trip, maybe convince Gina that the Targa is a good thing to do with $10K plus....lol
Kidneys sell for about enough for this trip, of course that would limit the amount of Aussie beer you can try to smuggle back into the country in your system
It wasn't Bathurst, but I did get to see one of these near Sydney, along with some cool vintage and exhibition races in between the V8 Supercars races. Great day out with the yobbos, ockers and hoons. What I remember most was slamming down a couple VBs as quick as I could because you couldn't leave the fenced-in corral with them.
