Who watched it and what did you think? I thought it came off pretty well. I wonder if anyone involved had ever seen Top Gear?

There already is a discussion here: http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/off-topic-discussion/the-car-show/37539/page2/

P.S. I loved it but I'm already an Adam Carolla fan

I was there for the shoot, AC is funny, knows cars and thinks quickly on his feet. Show has potential with some fine tuning. Also watched a bit of the Top Gear America season two shoot. Endless retakes, forced humor in the stick to the scrip dialogue-so far big advantage to AC and his crew.

That said, it was a pretty good take on the formula.

So their forcing re-takes to make TG funnier is what you are saying?

I'll just say it looks like it may have some (unrealized) potential. I want to like it, but I'm not there yet either. Their round table discussion they had was pretty good, far better than stiff performances over at TGA. I kinda got bored with the car vs. plane though, as how many times have we seen that? I would've thought they'd come up with something more original for their first show. At least wait a few episodes to start pulling tricks out of the TG basket.

That said, I did like that they participated in a LeMons event.

It's like Sports Center for cars.

Just watched up to 0-60 on HULU . I'm already wondering why John Sally is on this show? He doesn't seem to have any car knowledge. Also the four of them look crowded with all four sitting at that desk. Three people work better. Maybe they can use Sally as a "out and about" type commentator.

Yea, for the 0-60 he wasn't talking at all unless he told a joke.

Being that Tim is the publisher of the mag, I'd imagine he started this thread for a reason.

I watched it and thought it was pretty decent. You could tell that Adam had canned some jokes ahead of time and it wasn't as organic as a result. I enjoyed watching it though. I don't think the aim is to mimic or compete with Top Gear. It's a different style and frankly, a nice break from the Top Gear want to be's.

I'll continue you watching... It's a damn sight better then NasCRAP coverage on Speed or some stupid reality show.

There was a lot wrong with it but the two things that will make it leaps better is: 1) Have longer, better developed segments that aren't jammed into 3 minute windows between 5 minute commercial breaks 2) Stop trying so many things, especially those that are unoriginal. This isn't some new reality crap on CBS, you don't need to sell us anything. We like cars and we like Adam, now deliver those two things in large quantities. You don't need to do airplane vs car races, or game shows. Be the obnoxious ass we know and love, talk cars and have long funny and/or cool segments (the chicks driving manuals next week sounds promising, provided it's not 3 min long again)

Finished watching HULU. Thought it was good. Still don't get why John Sally is there. Why did they bother racing the plane? I would have much rather seen them get serious and tape up the front and take off the wing on the porsche for the third run. I'd watch it again though! Oh and Adam is funny. Glad he popped out of the back seat during the RR drive.

for a 1st show, not bad - it semi kept my intrest.. I guess I would like a show that was more like GRM type.. I really don't care about new stuff coming out - Motor Trend TV has that covered - I want to see more racing, vintage, guys working on cars.. I want GRM for tv!

I need to wear my glasses more because I thought I saw Alonzo Bodden (comedian, 101 Cars Host) in the pre-airing commercials. Turns out that was John Salley. That was a little disappointing. Also he seemed a little timid about jumping into the repartee. I was surprised to see the WSJ writer gettin' all butch. Overall, I'm looking forward to the next episode more than I was looking forward to E2 of TGUSA.

My favorite car show host right now is Tom Hnatiw. He keeps it real with 5 min of snake oil hustling per episode.

I thought it was pretty good. Far more original than TG USA. It also felt more honest than TG USA. TG USA makes me feel like they are borrowing too much on the pranks committed by OG TG. Its original and outlandish when OG TG does it but its not as funny when a redneckish dude, a guidoish dude and a cali boy try and copy/borrow...

Watched it, it was just ok.

Adam Corolla didn't display any car knowledge, enthusiasm, or even an opinion. All he did was introduce segments and provide comic relief. Although I think he's funny, his jokes just seemed misplaced. A few were even down right racist.

John Salley belongs no where near anything relating to cars, and as far away as possible from a camera. All he did was laugh with great enthusiasm over the simplest jokes.

Dan Neil, he just plain sucks. trying to be an arrogant english dude, without being english. Doesn't work. Maybe he comes through better on paper.

Matt Farah, he's great. The only host on the show that was confident and worth while in front of the camera. Displayed a genuine knowledge and enthusiasm for cars and driving.

All and all it was decent. Has a ton of potential. Get rid of Salley, dont let Dan Neil talk too much. Adam and Matt take over, focus on the cars, and not the comedy or stupid game show segments. Should become a good show.

Actually Corolla is a true enthusiast and has a pretty eclectic collection of cars. Farah's OK, but was easily fooled by an obviously fake Ferrari GTO during and episode of Smoking Tire. Racist? oh come on.

plus eleventy billion.

I hate everything about Adam. I don't find him humerous in the least and I hate the way he speaks.

As much as I'd love to see another good car show on TV I don't think this is it. I think Adam will alienate more than he attracts.

After all the posts I thought that I had to watch it but I just can't get past him. Does the concept have potential, maybe, but they need to replace 2 people before it'll fly.

I grew up laughing at Adam on loveline, so naturally I'm an Ace Rockolla fan. I'll be the odd one out and day that I really don't like Dan Neil. He rubs me the wrong way, strikes me as errogant, like we should be worshiping his awesome wardrobe.

Matt Farrah i like, I liked him from his Shelby Terlingua review.

I think its got great potential, just imagine though, Adam was originally slated for TG USA v. 1.0....
