Adam is great. I'll watch the show once I find it on Hulu.
Adam needs to come to the Challenge some year.

In reply to T.J.:
Because people keep posting to both. They both have insight, so I'm not planning to delete either. Darwin's theories work faster on the internet.
Back on topic- I watched it again last night with the neighbors. It was worse the second time around.
That makes me part of the problem seeing as I've now posted in both threads myself.
I wasn't asking for divine intervention and official thread deletion. I was just hoping that one thread comes out ahead and demonstrates survival of the fittest. The other thread came first, making this thread essentially a repost, but this one was started by Tim, so it must be the right one. I have enough slack in my day to read both threads if I care to.

And I'm guessing you wouldn't delete the one started by your boss ;)
Hey btw I qued up an old "Car Cast" episode with Tim this morning. Good stuff.
I'm planning on recording it tonight. I doubt it will get that far in this household.
My wife will watch (and laugh at) Top Gear, but she HATES Corolla from his work on the Man Show.
I have a wonderful idea - let's let Adam PRODUCE a car show instead of star in a car show. That gives us the advantages of his supposed enthusiasm for cars, his supposed knowledge of cars, & his high profile reputation to help attract money.

Oh man that was work? I've got to get a new job. Did not enjoy political commenary, but the show needs to show down catch it's breath and have fun, and have fun and have fun, I think that is the part of the TG magic, the presenters almost alway seem to be having fun.
I really want to like this show. I found it random and forced. Maybe it was because it was the first show and I didn't get the crappy game show segment.
I think we need a GRM show full of $2000 cars and greesy guys hunting through junk yards looking for cool parts! Or maybe a better way of putting it is a show about people enjoying the car hobby on a budget. There has to be a major parts chain that would back that.
Just saw the show. I'm not a big Adam fan, and he did nothing in front of the camera to change my opinion of him. Hopefully he is contributing alot behind the scenes.
All in all, not a bad show, and I'll probably watch it again. After all, the original Top Gear got off to a slow start before they hit their stride.
but she HATES Corolla from his work on the Man Show.
I sort of do too. I wont take Jimmy Kimmel seriously now either. Carolla didnt offend me this time but i just didnt see anything to keep me watching.
How can someone HATE the man show? I could see it not being your cup o tea. But Hate? It's retarded slapstick humor, and boobs. What could go wrong?
I finally saw it last night, while not great, and some segments were pretty weak, I did like the Lemons part thoroughly. Hell if it was just a rehash of a season of Lemons, Chumpcar, AutoX, Track days, prepping for any of these since the show seemed semi-serious at least about cars, I'd watch. The Rolls bit was nice too.
Oh, and I agree with Dave, I mean how can anyone hate Girls Jumping on Trampolines or "Ziggy Zaggy, Ziggy Zaggy, Oi, Oi Oi"?
Who'd a thunk that The Man Show would forever define individuals.
But I didn't like Adam there either. I tolerated him so that I could get to the chicks on trampolines.
Not bad. Caught it on Hulu. Did seem forced, but even Adam admitted as much on the show. Like I tell my DE students--just relax and things will work out fine.
John Salley. Necessary..?
caught it on Hulu last night.. i liked it. it did kind of look like they threw every gag they could think of at the first episode in case it got canceled or just never got aired, but i think they will settle into a comfortable stride and it will make for some good tv.
As has been said... the "players" all seemed out of place. Adam's humor is a bit rough, but wouldn't be so bad if there were other decent charachters... Hmmmm, Adam might do well opposite someone like Wally Dalenbach(NASCRAP announcer on TNT), or other semi-intelligent confident race driver(not a squeaky Tanner Foust type).
One segment I'd add is a guest test car... not new cars mind you, but testing hobbyists(for example GRMers) own built cars. Call it, "Testing Home Brews" or something similar and have a 3-5 min segment on home builts - I'm sure there are PLENTY of home builders who would enjoy seeing their cars tested.
I did like their LeMons bit... but of course that was short lived because of the engine failure.... maybe a future version can have a shorter than 24 hour LeMons and each of the hosts have a car... (that is usually a good segment on TG when they each have to go with some used car)
Finally, maybe they(The hosts) should do a different car build each season... a serious car build. They can run a 3-5 min segment each week on the progress, or set-backs, and at the end of the season they sell their project for charity.....
Anyway, there are plenty of places for improvement... car shows(good or not so good) are rare and so I'll continue to watch until there is something better... and then I"ll watch both

That right there is the best nugget in this thread.
Bad, not a good bad, a bad bad..... First off, other than AC, who are these guys and what's the point of the show? When the debut show features over done bits from other shows (airplane, shooting at a car) then they have nothing. Closing a show with a poorly scripted rant against Meter Maids was just plain stupid, you could see in their faces it was a flop. They need to call it "Reverse" since that seems to be the direction it's going. I do applaud them for showing a preview of next weeks show so I have an entire week to find something better to do that hour.
Went to see Harry Potter and they had a commercial for TG second season. I can't believe they still had Adam whatever his name is. Why do they feel they have to have goof like either Adam on either show?
I actually wouldn't mind if Corolla replaced Ferrara on Top Gear America, I can't stand that guy, and I like Corolla, but he shouldn't be the anchoring personality of a TV Show. He is a 1B at best, but more likely a 2, and needs a stronger host to play off. John Salley has no business being here...
