Well, we all survived the weekend! As we had hoped, the mighty Civic didn't even know The Kink was there (at least in the dry, in the wet... ). He ran flawlessly; we got 12th overall, 3rd in B class. We were beat by a 280Z and a V8 Mustang, they definitely had us on HP. But all in all, not unhappy with that at all.
And speaking of the mighty mite, here he is wearing his colors...
Saturday about 5:30 AM a gawdawful thunderstorm came through, for a few minutes I thought I was on an uncontrolled trampoline. Watched the Tunachuckers rassle a Edelbrock carb for a good while, when they got it going right damn that car had a lot of power!

WHAT A GREAT RACE.
51 people piled on the LTD for a parade lap around the paddock at drunk:thirty. The LTD ran hard, but we still are missing 50 hp from some ignition woes. Our 620 treadwear tires didn't stop us from surprising a lot of people, corners AND straights. What fun. I don't even know what place we finished in - really don't care. What a great time.
Pics to come.
Very nice meeting some of you face to face.
We did get that carb tuned up nicely. To make sure we unclogged the primary boosters, by the way, I sat on the hood, stared down the big hole at the carb, about 4" away and had my teamate bring it to about 4 grand. That's the safest way to do that, right?
Kink? What kink? We took it around 90, and usually just coasted down instead of hitting the brakes. The barge was very well balanced.
51 people piled on the LTD? Wow. But I can see the barge carrying that many. Speedycop's bowling alley was pretty cool.
The Civic was touching redline (7k) through The Kink which is ~ 93 MPH. We found the best way to drive the little box was to come out of the Carousel in 3rd, carry as much speed as possible throught the next corner (if it was done right you'd feel the suspension hit the bump stops) then just put it to the mat and hold it there till Turn 11.
Oh, for 30 more HP... mebbe an Integra swap is in order!
SO HOW THE berkeley DID WE ALL MISS EACH OTHER!?!?!? Need to swap phone #s next time!
Two words: Bowling Alley. Please tell me someone got pics!!!
The general ran great. Still can't believe how hard it walks on a lot of V8's with all its 90hp. That's the power of insane lightening kids! Kevin and co got 2nd & 3rd. I got a nice, consistant 18 hour buzz. Good times.

Have you advanced the living E36 M3 out of the timing? You can actually hog out the bracket on the distributor for more advance. I've never gotten one to knock. It'll come alive!!!

Were you hanging out with that crowd? Didn't our teams sit next to each otehr at Chili's Sunday night?
Your car weighs 1600 lbs, ours weighs over 4000. That's a big difference. I'll bet we won on lap/tons, though.
I took off Sunday at 1PM. None of the hongs were "mine..." well, the General was several years ago. Anyway, the LTD was AWESOME to watch on Sunday. Saw some serious Doreeeefto action!
Did you guys get IOE?

We did a bit of drifting - it was seriously easy to control. I took the checkered on Sunday!
IOE was a jip, they gave it to the Reatta. It was cool, but it wasn't IOE material, but then again, judge Phil was MIA. I stuck to the Reattas rear bumper for 10 laps easily, and could have passed if I wanted to be rough on the brakes (and if I had talent) and they won class C. We're almost there!
Sorry we missed you - we were pretty busy changing ignition components during stops trying to figure out that miss, so we never did travel around the pits during the race like normal. The real question is, how did you miss 51 people on the LTD? How did you miss the campfire with requisite moonshine and Beam?

Got there about 8 on Sat night. Drank, bowled, and chatted up women till midnight, when the call of Waffle House would no longer be ignored.

Well if you got there at 8 pm and left at midnight, you missed a lot! Duff beer guys handing out home brews, deep fried oreos and pop tarts were also available in addition to the aforementioned LTD pile-on and campfire. It was a good night.
I had a Duff and a fried oreo. When was the LTD pile-on?
Poop, you're a slacker. I can't believe you didn't come look us up. By the time I got down to where your pit was, you were gone.
We had a great time. The little rat ran it's ass off all weekend. The only work to be done was change the oil and bleed the brakes Saturday night. Even the rain wasn't too bad.
Tuna, good to meet you in person as well as the rest of the crew. That beast of yours was an absolute hoot to watch, unless it happened to be in the rear view mirror. Then, it looked like a battleship ready to nuke me.

I walked by you guys' spot at least a dozen times. Saw the mighty roadmaster. Tried to bring you breakfast Sunday morning!!!

HEE! About pi$$ed myself laughing the first time I saw that car! I just Love it!
Team E30/6 had a very good weekend! Once we got the ignition and oil pump working (the engine had never been started since the re-ring & bearing job) the only issue we had was a wire coming off of the alternator that slowed my departure on my last stint on Sunday. The engine used no oil and gained power all weekend as it broke-in. We ended up 2nd in C and 36th over all. Best team lap time was in the 2:05s, I got into the low 2:13s and now have a track I've run on that I haven't crashed at.

That's good to know. Toyman, bust out the die grinder!
Man, I hate we missed each other. I wanted to see if that young'un had calmed you down any.
cpdave, we got stopped for pictures all weekend. Think this had anything to do with it?
I really hate it too man! I said "let's go find jensenman" like 800 times. Who did the sammich!?!? Looks awesome!!!
I was out there, following little animals around.
R.A.L.T. (Rat And Lettuce Tomato) Sammich was done by our teammember from Greenville. Hint: he's the guy who now owns the Berzerkeley.
Well, I'm damn sorry we missed you, Poop. We'll catch up with you at the next one. Then you can tell us all the secrets to get that junker running better.
The mighty Roadmaster was loaded to the gills this weekend. Might be time for a set of helper springs.
AMAZING weekend! Full course CMP rules! Big ups to Hong South for bringing all that fun in that little CRX, Thanks Matt, Matt, Evan and Derrick! Great seeing everyone Mike, Wayne ,Tommy, Les! Such an incredible all around fun experience=priceless.
You guys too!!! Wish you lived closer!
I also had an awesome weekend, but caught some kind of creeping crud and had fever+chills+cough+aches which made the drive home no fun!
Piling on the LTD was awesome, I can't believe how much it put up with.
It was great meeting you Tuna, and sorry I missed the rest of you. I was around but didn't remember everyone's cars and names.
The Galaxie had some teething issues with the engine swap that kept us off track most of the time. But we managed to get some good runs in, our fastest lap was 2:11 and I managed a 2:19. Not too shabby for a 45 year old barge with a badly set up carb. Leaking rear axle seals about 1.5 hours from the end kept us from taking the checker. It was getting fluid on the tires which wasn't really safe.
I was at the bowling alley a lot since that was my pit space. I might have hung out with some of you without realizing it.

Aww crap, your best time was a bit better than ours, 2:13.1.
Does 'some teething issues' mean that you didn't really hit the track until Sunday? It was nice to finally see the big machine out there. I turned a 2:13.7 best lap, and we're hoping that without that miss, and with better-than-620-treadware-tires, we'll be better in September.
Nice meeting you, too!
We turned about as many laps Saturday as Sunday. It wouldn't stay running in gear at idle AND it wouldn't restart without a jump so it was a major handful to keep it going on Saturday. But it was on track some! Maybe the many hours it was off track coincided with when you were on track.

Must have been - glad to hear it, though, we were all sad for you guys - loved seeing that thing out there. We're gunning for you in terms of best lap next time. Luckily, we were on track constantly, so we finished better than our best lap would seem to indicate - 48th or something. Top half and IOE is the goal for September.
