So, a lot of potential challenge cars I've looked at have broken windshields. I know that other people have to have run into this as well. What is the cheapest way to replace a broken windshield without dropping $200 on a new one.
Acrylic replacement from Home Depot, perhaps. $30 and lighter-weight. Will probably require a center support, though.
trailering up the 3500 for a not that far saturday morning ride and hoping to come home loaded up with something fun

My wife claims to have seen hot pink tape somewhere. I'm scared. really scared. Nothing like showing up to the challenge driving the pepto bottle.

at least you have a potential theme!!
Should be picking up the $2010 car tomorrow. 1987 CRX Si. I'll see about posting some pictures sometime after I pick it up.

That's the plan. Since I've never Turbo charged a car before expect to see lots of questions in the coming months.
Anybody have any inside information on the best way to make these handle well?

I am SO getting that as a bumper sticker for my Celica. It oversteers like crazy if i want it to. Understeer is not in it's vocabulary.
Picked up the CRX Si this afternoon. Seem solid but needs a lot of sorting. The PO swapped in a D16A1 motor out of a 1989 Integra. I roped towed it to a nearby friends house. It needs a cam sensor before it can be driven back to my house.
There's some guys over on http://www.g1teg.org/ that have turbo'd those engines before. Have fun with that. My first challenge car was a 86 CRX DX with a D16A1 swap.
Dude. If you're going to boost, find a Z6 head and ECU somewhere for cheap. Junkyard or H-T that for about $50 and you'll thank yourself later.
Congrats on the pickup. Only the cool guys race SOHCs.
Personally... no need to upgrade the head. Its basically the same head but with the dual cam profiles of vtec. I'd spend the money from doing a z6 head and instead get a turbo cam for it. Delta cams are CHEAP.
True, true. That's the beauty of Honda engines. Everyone's done one, but there's a zillion ways to build them. Port, stock cam, turbo cam, rods, no rods, Vitaras, etc. So many options to choose from to make a completely unique engine.
If he's already got a D16A1 in there, it doesn't matter, the Z6 head won't fit, if I remember right. I'll defer to the Hong nation for the final answer, though.
So, the PO said the car is tripping the cam sensor code. He also said that it has ZC cams in it. I've been looking around online and it looks like a D16A1 can't run ZC cams without adjustable gears. Could the car be reading the sensor code because of the cams?
A few of us (current and graduating FSAE members) are considering a 2-month build after coming back from our competitions in Michigan and Cali. Not 100% sure, but we're already considering possible routes and keeping our eyes open for possible candidates. Lots of experience in our group... VWs, Hondas, Nissan, Subaru and domestic, we've got 'em all covered. Who knows, we might even consider making it an official team for the coming years.
