You know, if I wasn't already elbow deep in 2 challenge builds, I would have beat you to the punch on that one, I found an 98 f body sitting behind someone's house, engine tore apart, take it out of my yard 350$ say's the guys ex.....I have dibs just have to go get it. MUHAHAHAHAHa

A '98 V8 would be an LS1 so either the car you're referring to is a V6 or you need to act fast before I drive down there and give the -ex $400.

If it is an LS, and you have not bought it,you should be banished from this forum forever.

Holy carp! There's one more vehicle likely to finish ahead of me this year...
I finally got a bunch of junk out of the garage. I can now continue to work on the fireturd, but am at a bit of a stopping point. As I told Andy when I was visiting, after what it took to remove the engine, I intend to clean and paint the engine and engine bay before anything goes back together. The original plan had been to assemble everything, do some testing, then blow it apart to clean it up. No way. So know I'm stuck on what color to paint the car. The original plan had been to do it up like a Trans Am racer I saw a picture of, but there was a 73 Firebird SD at the AACA museum in red with a screaming chicken on the hood that just looked awesome.

I just peed a little bit.
Ok, just so Andy will chill out, like I said, I just have to go get it.... not saying if it's a LS or not, just saying it's there. Angry ex with a crapload of repair work needed on her house. With his camaro with a blown headgasket sitting in the back behind the shed. Negotiations were quick and painless.

Make that 2, 4th gen F-body's planning to attend this year. We have a 97 Camaro Z28 we brought home before Christmas. Need to get back to work on it. Start the countdown clock!!

Hey Andrew, did you happen to notice when the September ECTA event is? We did. The weekend before the Challenge. Yea, we're going to shoot for both. Maxton is about the 1/2 way point from here.
Already booked the vacation time at work. Still need to book the hotels.

I sold a Mark 8 about 5 years ago for $1,900 with Working A/C. I should give the guy a call and tell him to bring it.
I've got a pretty good start on my 2010 car, a '85 Merkur.
The turbo and down pipe went on last weekend,
The intercooler is painted and ready to go on this weekend. It should be my fastest Challenge car by far, assuming the lack of a major disaster.
Oh, and it may be the ugliest car at the Challenge. (A tree limb fell on it, so I don't see the point of even washing it..)

Have you done any weight reduction on the Mark VIII? I've always wondered how light you could get one. Since it's a Lincoln, I assume there's a tonne of noise deadener, the seats are probably power everything and on the heavy side, etc.
