My aeromotive intank pump conversion kit is a noisey little bugger.. My car is loud inside and it still cuts through with a real annoying whine. That normal??

I installed a Stealth 340 pump using my stock hanger and I find it to be on the quiet side.

By the looks of the Phantom kit, maybe the mounting ring allows more vibrations to be transmitted to the tank?

What kind of wiring are you running?

Every one of those drop in high flow Aeromotives draws a HUGE amount of current, and you really need to bypass the original sending unit wiring and run something like 14 or 12 gauge wiring right to the pump.  They were kind enough to provide a current/pressure chart, and at EFI pressures they may be drawing 10-14 amps.

Hmm. This things is verging on being really annoying.. The mounting ring has little in the way of isolation so i think the pump may just have found the resonating frequency of my fuel tank..

My megasquirt is controlling the fuel pump with all new wiring and using 12 gauge wire.

Maybe the fuel line was knock lose from the body of the car when installing the pump?

I'm running a Stealth 340 in my RX8 (in tank) with 12awg wiring.  It's very quiet.

Are you sure it's not a knock off pump? The stealth line are turbine pumps and should be pretty quiet. Counterfeits are rampant and its possible it's a noisier gerotor style pump.

I've got a Stealth 340 inside the tank of my Civic, can confirm it sounds no different than stock (quiet). Can you stick a peice of rubber (junkyard fuel filler neck?) between the pump and hanger? Also rubber isolate the hardlines if possible.

fyi the instructions explicitly recommend 10-gauge wire.

In reply to Craigorypeck :

That does not sound right. I have a 340 in-tank and it's pretty quiet.

Well I had contact from aeromotive and they are sending me a new pump.

Very decent customer service.
