It's not so much the door count...well..actually it is. Kid seats are required until the child turns about 16 these days. So, if you have a two door you're hauling a kid in and out of a triangular opening created by the open door and the folded back front seat. That's going to suck from day one. Also bear in mind most coupes have very little space between the front and rear seat. Some four doors suffer form this as well but at least you have open and ample access to the rear seats with a second door on each side. Factor in a car seat that is now very bulky and large then having a coupe to haul kids around in is going to suck, hard. This equation changes slightly once a kid is able to sit in a booster seat instead of a full kid seat. Also with an older kid you're away from having to haul a stroller everywhere, double sized stroller if you have two, and a diaper bag that often is the same size as carry-on luggage.

You guys are nuts. The challenger is huge. The trunk is huge, the back is huge. The only complaints adults had of the backseat was headroom as my car had a sunroof. Avoid the sunroof and you have plenty of head and leg room.

Not my children, but my previous car, to prove a point.

I had a child and all we had was 2 fox body Mustangs. Today most people need a land barge or a truck to carry children around. I guess I will never understand. I would get a 2 door with a standard.

I heard they're coming out with an AWD version?

Personally I think the 300 is much better looking, and I think they're basically the same mechanically.

I'd rather get a Cadillac CTS with a proper manual trans. Or an Infiniti. The G36 had a manual. The larger M35 did not iirc.

Isn't the Charger like half the price of the Caddy?

This is the one you want

Plus if you can find the SRT8 version, they are the unicorn of the LX platform.

The Magnum is one of the few wagons I would actually want. Of course it would have to be black.

Well I drove them again over the weekend and as much as I like the looks and power I a just too stubborn about having a manual tans I guess. That said the sound is pretty awesome.

Also drive a Ralliart Mitsubishi Lancer and same story, awesome car but not my thing with the paddle shifters.

Im super sad that i cant get a 3.6L in an 08 Magnum with a 6spd manual or 8 spd auto without building it myself for way too much money. That would be damn near to my perfect car.

I was never a big fan of the 1st gen LX Charger, but i half-love the current one. The Srt-8 is droolworthy. The other ones are just massively improved.

A 2012+ R/T Track pack with a 6spd would sell like hot cakes!

Good point!

I'm not saying kids won't fit. I'm saying I'd personally get tired of having a two door when I need four when dealing with kids. I like the openness of a four door when loading kids and their support infrastructure into a car. I'd prefer a sliding door but a minivan is unacceptable to me because I still have a soul.

They are fun. At some point I want to add one to the stable. The wife really wants a black redline package Challenger.

I am 6'5" my kid had the height and weight to be out of a car seat at 2. I know we are the exception but there are 4 door cars my family can't use because of poor design intent.

The back seat of a Challenger is very big. Kids should, even mine, fit back there no problem.

I didn't say it was always easy. No one can site behind me in a 2 door. With my budget at the time it was either by Mustangs or K cars. Mustang was the choice 3 times. I did become so poor that K car became the only option ( free) and I drove 2 of them.

I hate to be that guy but jesus christ people need to get over wiggling their left foot occasionally in order to enjoy a car. There are a ton of great cars out there with automatics, from cars like you tested to cars like my E38 740i. Cars that are still fun to drive. Hell, even my daily driver Volt has a single speed and it's still fun to drive.

It's one thing to prefer a good manual transmission. I do, too. But to be unable to enjoy a car that isn't so equipped because you're "too stubborn"... Just strikes me as a lack of vision.

Might as well wish for the days of hand cranks and manual chokes.

Yeah, I'm mean.

^^^ Sorry man, I've had some pretty decent cars that were automatics and it just isn't the same. My 95 540i was an auto, as was my 05 CTS and while they are both great, I got rid of at least one of them purely because it was an auto.

Yeah, I'm stubborn

Drove a Challenger RT 6spd tonight. I like it, in fact I like it a lot. Awesome sound, power wasn't bad at all. It is truly giant inside. Also drove yet another Charger RT and the auto is growing on me a bit, I like the rest of the car so much that I might be able to live with it.

Do you enjoy watching train-wrecks? It would explain a lot. IMHO, it, and the last gen Ford Focus are the most hideously designed cars produced in recent memory.
