That's my suspicion... they're now one of two midsize truck manufacturers, which to my mind is crazy. I think the manufacturers suppose that because they get about the same mileage, we would all want the bigger truck, and that just ain't the dealio.
Precisely, I previously even asked about an F150 here. But after driving an equivalently sized truck, I'm not interested at all. I don't need to tow a 7500lb travel trailer.
A Miata on small, light dove tail trailer is all I need. I'm not going to be towing through the Rockies, or wanting to drive 80mph down the highway with a trailer.
I have a feeling a crew cab, long wheel base Tacoma with the towing package will do exactly what I want.
Looks like the V6 has a tow package as part of a larger package.
V6 Tow Package 21 for Off-Road Package includes Class-IV towing receiver hitch, transmission and supplemental oil coolers, 130-amp alternator, heavy duty battery, 7-pin connector with converter, Trailer-Sway Control (TSC) 22 [TO]
Oh effing hell.
If I use MY zip, I get the configuration page for low-grade retards (IE: nothing). If I use the zip of the neighborhood I lived in in Louisville, KY... yeah I get the full configurator.
Idiots.

HA! I just tried it, that works.
How stupid.
Not to defend Toyota or anything, but could it be because they are at the end of the model year right now, so you technically couldn't build a 2013 because they've all been built? I wonder if it would work better when the 2014 model year comes out....

Maybe. But when I just used a Louisville, KY zip code, it gave the me full configurator, with my OK zip code, nothing.
That's probably because the dealers in that region decided it. If you type in a texas zip code you get to go to the Horrible "Gulfstates" Toyota page rather than the actual Toyota page.
...because all of the good web developers work for Scion?

Toyota and Chevy/GMC do not share small pickup tech. Where did that idea even come from?
The Isuzu Hombre, however, is/was a rebadged Chevy Colorado.
The new Colorado/Canyon twins are 100% GM.
The sizes lead to speculation.....neither are considered full size and they aren't mini trucks. They're all kinda like the redheaded stepchild that takes up the same space as a bigger sibling, but cannot do as much.

Sorry you had to find out this way.

Hardly. Seen a new full size truck beside a Colorado lately?
I dont know how accurate it is, but I would look up the "true market value" on Edmunds. It will also show the options and their prices.

Toyota does a lot of region specific options. In Texas you can build a Manual Tacoma with packages that are unavailable in Illinois. The only way to find out all available options is at the dealers build tool. They can build one any way that is available. The Toyota websites reflect this build strategy. I actually believe its a dealer driven thing. One more way the dealers are there to protect us consumers from to many options and possibly selecting options we don't need. I know VW does this as well. When I got my GTI it had heated cloth seats. If you tried to build one in VW website it was not available that way but my car had them.
Sometimes dealers will sell you things that are "not available". They will usually get the car and order the part from elsewhere and put it in. A friend of mind got a California Special Mustang GT with the track package... here in Vegas they would not build me that car. He is friends with the dealer owner though, i'm sure that matters quite a bit.
Here is a shocking thought OEMs,
Let your customers decide what they want!!!
It's the dealers that's the problem, not companies like Ford. The dealers are also why we have bullE36 M3 like 25 years to import foreign cars. They probably even dictate their terms to the auto industry i'm sure.
If it was like ibuypower or some PC building site you could put your E36 M3 together online then have it shipped to your house. However because we have dealers who control congress and state legislators that is not an option. Look at Tesla, that is what they were trying to do and they act like it's a threat to America. Let me order the E36 M3 I want and give it to me. Why is that something that is so evil and/or hard to do?
