I am an organizer with a small independent club, adding up lot rental, INSURANCE, equipment upkeep, etc.. I dont see how thats possible without BIG independent sponsorship funding paying things off. (or somehow not bothering with insurance, EEEP )
Yeah, our insurance costs alone are $1000 / day for drifting. And that's without location costs or equipment. And that insurance only allows 2-car tandems, not multiple-car trains.

The club I normally run with (not SCCA) basically classes cars by engine displacement and wether you're running street tires or R compound.

Photographers realized long ago that auto-x is boring and started using slow shutter speeds to blur the background. That right there pretty much sums it up, that the activity just isn't that exciting without "help". As long as you're in it for personal growth or the competition, who cares, but yeah, it's not a hobby that's ever going to become a thing.
