..wagon with a stickshift?
I'll even give up RWD if it means I get a third pedal, but my craigslist is barren when it comes to 3-pedal station wagons.
No, I'm not into converting. Got my merit badge for tranny swaps doing it with the Mustang, not interested in doing it again.
Did you look in Atlanta? They have everything!

No, CA Bay Area/Central Valley only. Smog laws make it a bitch to import anything into the state newer than '75, and this is part of my new DD search (i.e. I want something that's not a project car).

How do you I think I ended up in a Mazda5? It was easier to find as a stick than a Mazda6 wagon!
I used to have a 5spd Escort wagon - it was hard to sell too.
Present company excluded, nobody wants them.
I've been patiently looking for a 5-speed E46 Touring w/sport pkg - under 100k, within 8 hours of home (preferably not a salt state). I'm willing to pay top dollar for the right car.
Patiently... as in 6 months. I'm starting to cave-in and consider automatic cars.
I would find a stick for this one!

Why did you do this to me? Now I have to go home and change into clean clothes.
So much want.

They do? The non-ca-emissions-penalty-fee was thrown out a few years ago, and 49-state cars are supposed to be smogged against the Federal limits for the year they were made, not the CA ones.

That's exactly like my father's first new car, bought shortly before I was born. He added a black vinyl top, though. It was gorgeous until my idiot sister ran it into a house.

I am your choir and you're preaching to me.
A RWD manual wagon, that's a unicorn's fantasy. BMW might have made one, once.
Manual wagons just seem like the most logical of vehicles, why don't people get that? Ego, image, peer-pressure, marketing-turds, who knows what it is?
I guess the only good aspect of this is that when you find a manual wagon, they are usually a little cheaper because of the lower demand... That was the most thin silver lining there is.

Wagon went to Minivan
Minivan became uncool so SUV grew
SUV has remained and somehow is seen as cool-er
I loved my Volvo 850 wagon manual.
If possible, I see a Saab 9-5 wagon in my future. Manual is available but rare.
Volvo and SAAB wagons with stick shifts aren't too hard to find. I also spotted a BMW E34 wagon with a stick shift onthe Philly CL while searching for a 5er sedan for SWMBO a few months ago. If it was AT I would have bought it (SWMBO can drive stick but doesn't want to).

when I was working at Connecticuts Own I wrenched not one but two Mazda 6 manny trans (THEY were even V6)
I really enjoyed my Mazdaspeed3. Wagon-y and a 6 speed.
It's funny, the first wagon I had was a Volvo 240 with the M46 manual trans. Loved that car, tractor gearbox and all. I've been searching for another since, but all my local hits have been autotragics.
I just bought a Mazda5, and I'm selling my 4wd Element. Yep, both manual trans.
My wifes 2012 outback wagon is a 6 speed manual. It is great!
Oh and its so hard to find because you are letting new car buyers select what will be available to you. Manufactures stop making what isn't popular and most people don't buy manual transmissions and I think most manual buyers buy used. If more manual trans lovers would buy new guess what... More manuals would be made. I spoke with my wallet and said subaru I like what you are doing give me one in manual please. You can thank me when they make 1 more manual car next year because I bought one this year.
The Unicorn. Legacy GT Wagon Manual
Legacy GT
I just found this near me... Damn.... Just bought the Mazda2 and a new house. can not justifiy. Any one want a slightly used Mazda2 and a really used Toyota MR-S?

In the four years I lived in Germany I saw thousands of RWD manual wagons. Hell, I probably rode in 10 or 15 so-equipped taxis.
