I'd try Ground Control. They're always posting pics on FB about some off-the-wall coil-over they've made and seem to enjoy a challenge.

You haven't mentioned the issue I have with mine, the power steering. Have you had problems when applying a lot of steering input?

That's a Hyundai thing. I noticed it uses the same pump the old Elantra has. I haven't noticed an issue YET, but I am sure it will. The best solution is full synthetic fluid and an addition of a p/s cooler and additional fluid.

What happens is the fluid overheats, causing it to boil, which causes air pockets in the lines which make momentary harder to steer when it's being pushed. It's a dumb issue, but it was annoying on a long auto-x course with lots of slaloms.

I see. It can flash boil that fast? I mean I run into the increased effort pulling out of a parking space first thing in the morning. thanks for confirming the problem.

are you considering removing the dampening valve in the clutch hydraulics to improve feel? I haven't looked at it in at least a year but I remember that removing it was the best idea at the time, but that none or most had not done it because the slave is located such that it would require dropping the transmission to do.

Power steering cavitation in an AX type situation isn't just a Hyundai thing. I know several people who finally just blocked the air bleed hole in the P/S cap on various cars (most notably a Z31 Nissan) so it wouldn't pump fluid out in a slalom.

Interesting idear.... I hadn't thought of that.

bluej, I'd flush your system out and put in some new fluid first if you're having that issue at start up.

sorry for the thread necromancy but I did the slave cylinder delay valve/spring removal on mine. If yours is a 2.0/5 speed and not a 6 speed I can walk you through it, or help you if youre ever down here. it was amazingly easy. on the 6 speed box the slave is in the bellhousing iirc, the 5 speed is above a splash shield, low and dead center.

in response to bobzilla's question, I gave up. I very rarely say anything on forteforums anymore, and I joined january 2010 (shortly after the site started)
it really is all stance/neons/audi eyeline mod!!!1!/E36 M3ty roadmagnet lowering springs/hids and projector mods.
and people asking about the advantages of a weighted shift knob on an automatic trans.
yes, that really happened

We need to put the power to the ground and be able to control it. What I specifically am looking for is a decent coilover setup, brake pads (why oh why is Hawk ignoring us?), rear sway bar and intake/exhaust/canned tune. EDIT: of course, I am not in a position to buy any of it until the vette sells [hint hint], but by spring I will be ready for all of it.

contact Carbotech ... they claim that they can and will make any pad ....assuming you can provide them with the blank .. it'll cost some but then they'll have the pattern saved and the price should come down after that

thanks for the update. makes me wish I had looked into it more as mine is in fact the 2.0/5sp., but as it is, I'm looking for a new home for the koup.

and the automatic knob? wow... i wish i could say i'm surprised. but i'm not.

In reply to bluej: I had the same steering problem with my Accent when it was new. Ironically while searching for a solution the problem went away never to return. This happened around the 15000 mile mark. Don't know why it went away it just did. I didn't change anything, or do anything.

I was going to trade mine in on a 13 CRZ or 12 SI sedan, but it makes more sense just to pay off my last two years on the car and keep it, buying other cars to race lol
