Yes, for $300 for a set of pads. That's a bit above what I had in mind.

Looks like I'll just be buying yellow's this fall.

Oh yeah, they even list pads for that application already, so you don't have to send them templates.

Even though they only list the R4-S you can still order them in other compounds if you call them.

By the way if you have a NASA membership you get 20% off. It pays off your NASA membership very quickly. The only way to get this discount is to call in your order, and make sure you ask for it.

Ah, I missed the pricing requirement.

You're very lucky that you have any performance choices in that price range!

Where did you get that pricing? I see $149.95 for the fronts and $69.95 for the rears. And something else is that after I bought my first pair from them, every time I've bought pads from them since they have given me substantial discounts over their listed prices.

Just rechecked the Porterfield site. They have the wrong pads listed for the front of the Forte. Switch to the Elantra Touring and it shows the correct ones. $170 for pads frt and rr. Add another$85 for rotors and we're sitting at $255 for pads/rotors. That's not as bad as I thought.

my 2013 FMSI (Friction Materials Standards Institute) catalog shows for 2010 Kia Forte Front = D1397 and rear = D1398. The catalog shows that the D1157 was last used on the Rio and Rio5 in 2007. The FMSI drawing for D1398 says "similar to D1157 except indents for clip-on shim", so either one should work in your caliper.

google "brake pad FMSI D1397" (or D1398 or D1157) to see what's out there.

Bob, Thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately we do not offer any pads in our line for Kia’s at this time. Regards, JC

My first Google came up with this: http://m.autoanything.com/brakes/Kia/Forte/110A50530A0A0A14A10109A1.aspx

But I can't tell if it helps

Help here? http://www.forteforums.com/forums/performance-modifications/428-after-market-brake-pads-forte.html

PowerStop makes their Evolution Ceramic Plus for the Forte Bob. #171157 for the front and 171397 for the rears. They also make the Z16 kits, #KOE5387 for the fronts with OE rotors or #K5837 for the drilled/slotted version. Those are the brakes I used on the P71 and the Mazda5.

The OE Kia pads are a really good pad. If I was just wanting a stock replacement, I'd buy a new set. They have a nice initial bite and decent feel but don't handle heat well.

The Z16 is not a stock replacement pad, it's comparable to an HPS. I've run them on my autocross RX-7 and Miata. They did HPDE's in the P71 well, too.

Why not adapt some Wilwood calipers? Then at least you don't have to go through all this again when the new pads need replacing and you can't find a supplier. Yeah, it's more money, but pad options just open up at that point.

I think Porterfield is your best option. I also do not think they charge extra for custom pads last time I inquired.

Having said all that, you hate EBC yellows because of EBC reds on a Swift? I had EBC yellows on my 1994 jdm wrx, and let me tell you, besides the INSANE amounts of dust, they were the perfect daily driver/track day pad. No squealing, good braking, better fade resistance than a street pad. You should really try the yellows IMO.

got an email back from Porterfield (I caught a mistake on their catalog). 20%off, makes a set of R4S pads $136 for front and rear. That is worth it.
