Come on craig, you and your dirty dirty list. I texted before work on a bmw. Asked if still around because ad was 4 weeks old. Half hour later got a "yes."
Immediately shot back that im very interested, ask what part of town they are in so i could see when to make arrangements to come look.
Nothing the last 12 hours. Seriously it's a black 740iL with sweet wheels and low miles, reply so i can buy your stupid car.
I hate people sometimes. I've been in your position before and I'm terrible when it happens.
I texted a guy over three weeks only for him not to be there when I arrived and his brother saying I'd have to come back because he couldn't get it out.
I love the ones that "think they can find the title".
Call. A call shows more serious than text. Suggest meeting place and time.
As someone who recently had a car listed on the craig, it goes a long way toward demonstrating your commitment in picking up the phone to call vs text or email. Sure, touch base or make initial contact through those means, but call to firm up plans.
I followed up and got replied to. Going to look at 7 tomorrow, if it's as advertised (lol craigslist) I'm ready to bring it home.
Biggest question is can you zero out the car to use the engine in the Challenge?
Guys got a VW Rabbit on CL. I call and talk to him but he interrupts and says he has an interview and has to go. So he tells me he will call me back and I joke and say make sure it's not during the Cubs game.
Thirty four hours later....... I guess I can call again tomorrow?
Dealing with Craigslist people is half of the fun! I've probably attempted to buy a few hundred cars on Craigslist and I've probably only been able to purchas 20 of them.

I've got a buddy named Craig. Every opportunity I get, I let him know his list is full of flakes and awful people

Was all excited over a Lexus ISF that was posted a few hours away for a right number. Talked to the owner and was waiting on a VIN number to run. Upon closer inspection of pics it is an F sport package on an IS350...
Currently selling a car on craigslist now......this one kid....can only imagine he is a kid, texted me 20 times in 30 minutes. This was after I let him know the car was under agreement to be sold.
I generally prefer dogs to people, but have found that they are no more adept at selling cars.

But they aren't much worse.
Currently parting out a Challenge car donor on Craigslist. Out of the dozen or so lame ass "whats ur bottm dollar" texts, jumbled emails, and obvious scams, I got one decent buyer to come take the bumpers after just a week.
eBay has been much better, but that shipping and fees though.

My reply to the what's you bottom dollar question is "The most you'll pay."
I listed my LS400 on LetGo after the trans died a few months ago. This same fellow has been messaging me every 2 weeks about the wheels and body parts, well after the ad was taken down asking if I still have it. I keep telling him the price and he keeps telling me he'll get in touch on payday.
I would say berk off but it's kind of funny. I was trying to sell whole, but now thinking parting but haven't started so if I do, maybe he'll buy something. Or maybe he's just lonely.
In reply to DuctTape&Bondo:
Maybe you should just part it out? I dunno what's going on with the Lexuses (Lexi?) these days but my SC300 donor vehicle is parting out like a champ, despite the usual bombardment of terrible Craigslist texts and emails. All the lights, body panels, bumpers, interior pieces, electronics...everyone wants something different. I'm already getting close to zero-ing it out in the Challenge budget.

I need you on my challenge team to sell all of my parts... I've gotten lazy in my old age.

After looking at what the car would need in addition to the transmission, for example there's an oil leak so front and rear main seals, timing belt and water pump to be due soon, definitely needs tires and there's still a minor ps leak even after lots of work has been done, the gas gauge works sporadically... it's not making sense financially to put in the funds or time. I'm working on getting the MX6 and Integra out of the way so I can push the LS into the garage and part out, keeping the engine, harness and ECU for myself.

I called about a 400e Benz in March. The guy said it was at the shop and he'd need to go get it so will let me know. Fast forward 8 MONTHS later and the guy texts me and says he picked up the car, then asks if I'm still interested. I replied yes, just let me know current price and condition.. No response, seriously none. Insane.
In typical craigslist fashion, car advertised as good condition. I meet Igor at sheetz. Car has hit a pole since pics were taken, wasted fender and mirror hanging off door. Brake, parking brake, and ABS lights on. "I put in ad speedo doesnt work." Sorry, buddy, no you didn't. About 130k doesn't imply that the odometer says 121k and hasnt moved in who knows how long. "I just notice coolant leak." Whatever, overflow nipple on top of radiator leaking. Let's go for a ride. Literally no power steering assist. Runs smooth as silk and shift great. "I forgot, front windows don't work, also will give you new ball joints because i think needs ball joints."
I turn back toward sheetz, "what do you think?"
All I could mutter was "meh"
"Really, make me any offer I just want to sell, car has been sitting a year while I pay insurance and plates."
I passed on making an offer.
