The most fun I've had at an autocross was when I did a 180 spin ... in the stop garage, with no cone penalty. After people stopped running, everyone was clapping like mad.

There's no way I can even get my wife to come to an autocross. If she did a ride-along, she'd lose her tacos on the first turn. Driving is a very remote possibliity.

Very cool! I am slowly working on my girl to get her in the drivers seat...

i cant even get mine to try driving. she loves riding with me, says its like a flat roller coaster, but she says she wouldnt be able to figure out where to go in the "sea of cones". she too said the thing about embarrassing herself by spinning or going too slowly.

how'd you get her to try driving?

For the pukers, get them to eat bananas before a run. They wont keep you from barfing but they taste the same coming up as they did going down.

I know she'd love it once she tries it but she worries so much about being embarrassed that she's unwilling to give it a try. The skills she could pick up are what's most important to me, not turning her into a racer. Autocross? Forget it; people watch you.

Phhffftt, tell her no one goes to autocross (meaning if she doesn't want an audience, she's all set.) In my area at least, if people aren't running a car, they aren't there. The reality is that autocross is pretty boring to watch, and I ran it for years.

Anyhow, your job is convincing her that no one's watching, they're busy working on their car or yacking, one cares how she does, no one knows who she is, and they can't tell when she's wearing a helmet anyway... and she'll have fun.
