I'm looking into getting some Kumho VictoRacer V700s for the stock wheels on my FC, provided I don't stumble upon a decent set of used R-comps before May 3rd (the first points event in my region's Solo calendar). The stock rims are 15"x6", stock tire size is 205/60-15. The aspect ratio of the R-comps will be either 55 or 50. Could I possibly stuff a 215 or even 225 width tire onto the stock rims?
215's will definately fit, 225s might, but you will need the taller 55 sidewall.
Ford stuck 225's on 6" wheels from the factory but they balloon like super swampers.
There are people running 275/35/15's on 15 x 6's on stock class ITR's.

225's are the widest I can fit on the FC without rubbing issues. Looks like I can fit 225s onto the stock rims. A 35 aspect ratio seems a little excessive, though: According to http://www.rims-n-tires.com/rt_specs.jsp, that's a 3.5" drop on a car that's already pretty low! Hoosier's web site says that a 225/50-15 will fit a 6" rim o.k. It said a 7" rim would be better for a 225/45-15, but it might work on a 6" if a 275/35-15 does.

What can be made to work, and what the lawyers will authorize, are COMPLETELY different things.
Why not get a cheap set of mustang wheels? Either 16x7.5 or 17x8; they are a 30mm offset. I bought a set of cobra wheels for $70.
I'm classing myself in E Stock, so no larger rims (for racing at least; I already have 17s for the street). I tried looking for other 15x6 5x114.3 rims, but they don't seem to exist. I also read (I think in rx7club.com?) that sticking with a rim/tire combo close to or slightly smaller in diameter than stock setup makes better use of what little torque the rotary has.
Go with the 205/50/15 or 224/45/15
You'll like the gearing advantage of a smaller tire.
You could also run either a 16x6.5 (vert BBS wheels and very light), or a 16x7 (GTUs), since they are all classified as ES.
225 Kuhmo 710s or Hoosiers will work. I have the 205s personally on a 15x6 on a miata, I know some of the other guys are running 225 Hoosier A6s on there, I got the 205 ones for shorter gearing for autox and they were a few bucks cheaper.
225/45x15s work. I had 205/50x15" on my 15x6" wheels on my 00 Civic Si. not too bad.
I have 225/50 15's on my race rims, but they are 6.5 wide, so that kinda destroys my point (as if I had one)
I've decided to get the Kumho Ecsta V710 225/50-15s. The installer sounds a little worried, but I've done my due diligence. Thanks to everyone for their input. While I have a lot of work to do on my driving skills, these tires should help immensely. I just hope they arrive on time.

I have those same tires on my 15x6 Miata rims. I think they're too tall/fat for my particular car--I wish I'd bought the 215's.
They do work, though. The installer had to wrestle them, but he got them on there.
