I’m planning on getting a wide band for a standalone. But I also have a valve stem seal leak. Will this ruin it? Also coolant, would that ruin the wide band 02?

Secondary question: does anybody know where (and how many) the main electrical connectors to take a 1.8 engine out of a Miata are?  Gearing up for an eventual engine removal, mostly to tackle the issues mentioned above. And yes, I know, I should fix these before I install a wideband, I agree.

Ruin is a strong word.  Sure isn't good for them, though.

Oil definitely, in sufficient quantity.

I premix about 50:1 2-stroke oil in my RX-7 with no detriment to the wideband.  However, if I let the oil level get too high (fuel dilution, it's a rotary thing) and the engine sucks half a quart in an instant, making for an Epic Smokescreen, the wideband will be destroyed.

The phosphorus in the oil is what will hurt the o2 sensor. Just like it does for catalysts.

But it will still work ok, unless you dump on it like knurled points out. The failure is that the signal slows down and the voltage shifts some.

Ah. Yeah, the oil plume is decent on first start, but gone after warm. I’ll just be patient...
