Will there be a 2017 Miata ......

...convertible? Mazda's website only lists 2016 convertibles and 2017 RFs, no 2017 convertibles. Anyone (Keith?) know why, or what the future of the convertible is? If I'm going to buy a new Miata it will be a convertible, not the retractable top.

Yes. There will be. The RF is listed as a '17 bc there was no 16.

I believe that all RFs are 2017s, the convertible just hasn't caught up model yearwise. Fear not. Otherwise wait for me to save up for an RF (for rallycross fun) and you can purchase my launch edition.

I think the world would explode if Mazda suddenly canceled the MX-5 convertible in favor of the RF only, as it's my understanding that the RF stinks with the top down and is also much more expensive.

The model year thing makes since. The RF is new for '17 and I doubt the base MX-5 will get any meaningful updates for 2017 so there likely hasn't been a marketing push for the new MY yet.

If they wait much longer they'll need to label it a 2018.

....or, do I need to just go to the Fiat dealer to get a proper convertible?

My local Mazda dealer has 10 2017 softtops on the lot Someone just didn't update the website.

I was chuffed to bits when I perused the Mazda dealer yesterday and found about 10 Miata's I almost asked to drive one but decided against it.

I was looking at them online. I does the Grand Touring have LSD and the same suspension as the Club? or is it like everything the club has + Navigation? Their site doesnt do a side by side comparison.

In the US, only the Club has LSD and the Bilstein suspension. The Sport and GT are mechanically identical from a drivetrain and suspension viewpoint.

The GT has leather, blind spot monitoring, lane departure, the 7" nav screen, auto-turning headlights, automatic high beams, etc. The Club has basically the same toys as the Sport (ie, not many) but adds in the nav screen. I personally prefer the non-Club suspension.

Note that I'm talking about the softtop here. The RF has a slightly different mix of options, such as blind spot monitoring on the Club and no Sport package.

A rf club with none heated leather seats and navi would be great.

All you need is a set of GT seats and the controls and your wish can be made true. Or you get the RF GT and just accept the extra toys

Come on, Keith! This is GRM. Everyone here is against extra toys because they weigh additional ounces and they're afraid they'll break. You know, the same people who say a car isn't a sports car anymore because it has Bluetooth and power windows.

GRM is fine with extra toys as long as they can buy the car for 1% of the cost to build it.

I'd take the extra toys in the GT if it came with LSD like the club. It seems the RF and convertable are slightly different in what they GT comes with vs the Club. But, options list always confuse me lol.

The main difference is that the RF Club comes with blind spot monitoring. I think everything else is the same. The suspension tuning and steering are better on the RF.

The lack of LSD wouldn't bother me much. Takes a pretty tight corner to make it light up the inside rear. I've been on track with both.
