I have no connection to anyone involved with this, I just saw it in the news. Drawing is November 1.

An actual 1976 Gremlin being raffled off in 2024 in Enfield.
ENFIELD, CT — This week's Picture Connecticut image is not a throwback photo from the Bicentennial.
It was actually taken earlier this week on a state route in northern Connecticut, near the Massachusetts border.
It's a 1976 AMC Gremlin that's being raffled off for the benefit of St. Joseph Residence, a home for needy elderly persons on Route 5 in Enfield.
The drawing will be conducted Nov. 1.
I may buy a ticket, simply because if I win this, it wouldn't be the only Gremlin on my street.
Also... there are only five houses on my street.
That's awesome. Although it's been painted to look like a modern RV :)
Despite all the haters at the time, and since then as well, I kinda liked 'em as a youngster in the '70s. Not a great car, but not the worst from those days!
In reply to Keith Tanner :
Yea, the paint scheme does not improve it, at all!

The good news about the paint is that you barely notice it after seeing the awful Walmart hubcaps
Woody: if i buy a ticket, and should i win, will you be my enabler?
Also, how much new England bondo buggy is it?
If I win this do I only have to count $25 towards the build cost or do I need to FMV it?
I am impressed with how American Motors, with its limited resources, was able to develop cars like the Gremlin. I recall reading that GM spent $200M to develop the Vega, which was a huge sum back then. AMC didn't have that kind of money to spend, so, for about $5M, they essentially shortened the trusty Hornet to create their own "subcompact" model. The Gremlin was a solid alternative to the Vega and Pinto and all the others.
It is good to see a surviving Gremlin today, dedicated to charity!
Definitely an AMC apologist but I do like these funny little cars. A 4.0HO will bolt right in 😉
My friend had one in the 70s with a v8 and slot mag wheels. I liked it a lot.
In reply to VolvoHeretic :
My sister dated a guy that had a Gremlin X. V8 with a 4 speed
In reply to Woody (Forum Supportum) :
Slots for the win!
My sister bought a new Levis Gremlin back in the day, I thought it was an all right car.

I always thought they were cool, maybe a predecessor to a "hot hatch"? I remember car shows in Norfolk VA in the Navy, someone had a V8 with headers stuffed into one.
In reply to Nukem :
You're a lot closer than I am. Good luck!

Two things:
- I love Gremlins
- I live 25mi from Enfield CT...
Doesn't sound like a problem to me! Haha. What's $50 and a couple entries? I've spent much more on much dumber things.

I should go in person to check it out...

I've ridden in Mark's car--it's tremendously fun/cool/awesome. It had a 360 in it up until very recently--he just got a freshly built 401 for it.
