This one stalled early in the assembly and was put away half-done.  I thrashed over the past weekend to wrap it up.

Which brand kit? I like it.

It is a Revell kit - claimed to be "Level 3" but that may understate the difficulty level.

So I haven't posted because I didn't want to jinx myself. When I was in high school I started building this kit. Between the moves from HS to college, LI to upstate NY, and back I lost it. I came across it on FB MP but was leery because the price was too good given what an unopened sealed kit is worth.

So today I took a trip across the lake to meet the seller and hope I wasn't being scammed.

On the Charlotte-Essex ferry.

Some sketchy scaffolding I discovered while waiting for the seller to arrive.

Someone needs to update their cellphone imagery. Lol

Waiting to head home. I started to have my doubts. The seller was late. They were coming from Plattsburgh about a half hour north. I offered to toss in money for gas, BTW.

So enough travel channel. This is what you all came here to see.

MPC 1/12 scale 3-n-1 '67 Corvette w/427 big block. $50. Plus $10 gas money. $11 round trip on the ferry for me.

Near as I can tell the only thing missing is the blower parts and the headers. The rest is all there. In very good condition. The decals are shot, but that doesn't bother me. Now I get to relive my teen years.

Here we go!

So cool...

I will say that - after multi-decade lay off, it felt a little like riding a bicycle.

Early on I proposed the Ford Econobox to have 4 competition seats because I have them....I have all the bits to make all the harnesses too, and they add two frustrating days for just the rears. Uh, no. Twenty minutes later I have cobbled the base of a plain rear bench from Fiat Abarth rear in the parts box and some flat styrene.

When the glue is good and hard tomorrow some grind and filler, plus clearance for the roll cage tubes and a pair of street harnesses. Meanwhile the engine room begins to fill. I picked the smallest SBF in the parts box, and it is still Sunbeam Tiger tight. A/C and PS here, alternator and some idlers for a serpentine still to go. This kit sprue is really easy to work into cylindrical parts, and it slices thin into the pulleys.

Wow, almost 3 days later and I'm the next post. Is anyone documenting their build? I'm not moving fast, but I've made a plausible accessory layout for a serpentine belt with only one idler, fixed by necessity. Rear "seat" is in first filler, and you can see the engine side of the radiator, which is Monogram 1987 Ford Nascar. The front side A/C condensor & fan set is from the Tamiya Peugeot 205 rally car.

I will be documenting. Hoping to get mine out and start some basic sorting and assembly this afternoon. We'll see.

My lack of documentation is appalling.

One of the more time-consuming aspects of my Boss 302 build is the stripes. While the kit has decals for the side stripes, the big black areas on the hood and trunk are paint-it-yourself. The trunk is easy, because it just goes to the edges of the panel. The hood...another story. Plus, Monogram decided to mold the engine bay fender aprons into the body and they also need to be black. So, lots of fun masking. I've got the black done; now just need to add body color and hopefully not overspray it.

I have the engine about 90% completed and the interior almost finished. Chassis is done. I think I can get it finished in time if the body gets painted this weekend.

Been a busy couple of days in the paint booth! The finest cardboard kind. smiley

The cab and bed are just sitting in place, I still need to finish painting the interior and then assemble that, install the windows and so on.

I am still really enjoying this Belkits kit. The first pic is the interior paneling in place to fit the rear seat. They are snapped into their aligning pins and need no fettling to fit. As good as Tamiya. Second is making the serpentine belt from bits of black paper soaked in CA. Looks shaggy now, but it will clean up OK. Hard to see 1/2 of it once installed.

Okay, largest hurdle is over. It's all just detail painting and some final assembly from here.

ETA:  now looking at the picture...fudgesicle...I forgot to paint the mirrors.

Details time. The top pic shows the front of the radiator stack, steering column, some color on the engine, primer on the back seat, and 8 blank header "tubes" all equal length, deliberately cut about 6"scale long. Second is the first bend of the longest tube.

Proof I'm doing something. What's that about 30 minutes in the garage?

It's a big one.

Here I was, violently pushing through my build thinking it was the end of February it was due... laughfrown

Well, it might be done today anyway. The nose piece is being a bastard and not wanting to adhere to the body. Other than that, it's just decals, mirrors and a radiator hose away from completion.

Indycals makes some decals that should fit that kit, if the originals aren't useable. He designs them for the AMT 1/25 Lolas, but has 1/24 available.

A $12 impulse buy at a surplus bargain outlet... I figured it would be a snap-together kit and I thought I'd just use the body shell for a junkyard scene - on blocks with the roof caved in.  Well it ended up being a pretty nice kit but I channeled my inner 12-year-old impatience and slammed it together in a couple of days.  I did not do it justice... but here it is.
