I gotta ask. Did you think only half spelling stuff would make it seem less racist? I might be wrong but I totally took it as racist.
In reply to Stampie:
What in the world are you talking about? Saying thanks Obama is racist? Really?
As I said I might be wrong but
Above said: Because racecard Thanks Obama
Comes across to me as if he's blaming the race of the CL poster for the quality of the ad.
In reply to Stampie:
I believe that is the very common saying "because racecar" I have never heard anyone say "because racecard".
In reply to Nick (Bo) Comstock:
It is very much so here. Never seen it half spelled. With the next line it fills in the blanks a little more. Unless he was thanking something else starting with Oba ... nope couldn't find anything else.
I kinda understand that. Think I even used it before. As I said if fully spelled out there would be no question. Not fully spelled out leaves it to the reader to interpret the meaning. I interpreted my way. In fact I thought about it for several hours before replying. It came down to if the meaning was innocent why not type the whole words?
I can't speak for him but I read it as him trying to come up with something to say by using common meme phrases and realizing nothing really fits, hence the "I got nothing" at the end.
Again I've never heard anyone, anywhere use the expression " because racecard". "Pulling the racecard" or "using the racecard" sure. However, it doesn't fit with the context of the post. The is no mention of the race of the CL poster in the ad. I never could have even interpreted it as anything other than because racecar, and it shocked me that you thought it was racecard. I thought your protest was about the thanks Obama, which is also a very common meme and in my view has nothing racist about it.
I like that Volvo. Not enough to purchase but it looks good from a distance, and the ad was good, so thumbs up there. The Ford probably is actually powered by a 351M unless someone decided a 351C made sense for a truck swap.
The "Thanks Obama" thing isn't racist from my POV. I've said it jokingly for years after it started to seem to be a real thing from less than liberal sorts.
Am I missing something or did the ad change?
The entirety of the ad: 351 Cleveland 4 speed manual runs great needs starting fluid to start has rust great father son/daughter project

Because it was such a crappy ad that no good joke saying would fit. He was pretending to start saying several but figured out each wouldn't fit one by one. I think you are reaching to find racism in that one. Think this meme:

Judging by the picture I would say...uh...yea
(Being that it's in Cincinnati, I bet it doesn't have any rockers, or floorboards and the bedsides are flapping in the wind)

People who drive old Fords often have sexual dreams about their Mothers?

I worked with a guy about twenty years ago that had an early seventies Ford truck, looked to be typical rust for a twenty year old Ohio truck. I followed him out one day and when he got to about thirty five miles an hour both bedsides opened up like the doors of a Delorean. They were only attached at the top of the bed rails. Was the funniest thing I'd ever seen, I don't know how they didn't just rip off going down the road.
