It seems as if it has rained every day so far in April here and I mean a lot of rain. More rain for the rest of the week, and wind and storms. I have only had the Miata out once this month. Just crazy weather.

Having said that we have managed to avoid all the damaging tornados that other parts of the country have had and my thoughts and best wishes go out to those folks. By comparison we have it good. The middle part of the country is taking a beating!

Anyone out there experience a Tornado this year?

Had a friends farm get hit by something last week. It ripped up their grain bins & blew them 100-yards into the field, moved their mostly full diesel tanks about 10', ripped apart their machine shed & used it to smash their combine, and their RV got quite a bit of damage. They were sheltered in their bathroom during the storm & didn't know about the damage until someone called them the following morning. Fortunately they & their home were completely untouched.

Had a big system move through central NC. A tornado demolished the building that I worked in just 3 weeks ago. (Good timing I guess) Tomorrow might be another bumpy one.

I was going to drive the Z all week (octave of Easter!) if the weather held out. It hasn't. At all. Tomorrow looks promising, though.

An EF4 tornado hit a few miles away. No one killed luckily. We have had a lot of rain in the last few weeks. Lots of damage from the tornado, but none at my house. I hear an EF5 hit Georgia yesterday evening killing over 100. Hope all our GRMers are OK down there.

It's been raining like crazy in MN too, when it's not snowing. Autox is this weekend, we've already been moved once to a new venue because of flooding, and now they're talking maybe snow on autox day. WTF.

No tornados. Lots of nasty storms and we did get a lightning strike that took out a bunch of electronics.

We had -a bit- of rain. For a week. I was technically living on an island for a brief period. My driveway is a disaster.

I'm in SE Michigan. I like the weather, my fiance hates it.

Here in Wisconsin, I had a tornado go over my neighborhood a week or two ago. It eventually landed a mile or two 'downstream' and did some damage in a neighboring town. Luckily no one was hurt, but quite a bit of damage. Then there was the 10" of snow and the 6" or so of rain that we got this month. Farmers havent been able to plant crops in this area (Appleton/Green Bay) since every stream and field is full of water it seems. But I can't complain... except my Miata's top has holes in it and wont stay up...

One if the leaky levies in southern Missouri is about to get blown up to flood the farms and spare the town. Other farms by nature are in the planes and will be flooded this year. I sense a real problem with our food sources this year. They say it every year, but I havn't heard it this year, though I expect to. There goes the price of corn based fuels.

You've had the wettest, coldest and snowiest spring cause you've been stealing all the water from down south.

We've had the driest. We've hit the 90's already, and I don't mean just one day.

I'll start filling up buckets, and all you have to do is ford the streams to get up here and get them.

The thunderstorms can be almost as damaging as the tornados. One storm pushed over a tree that went through the apt's window last year, and did a lot of damage. So, even though you don't have a tornado warning, watch out for the T-strorms' wind and rain.

And it's been cool and wet here in Ct river valley this spring. I think we'll jump directly to summer--as we have been doing over the last few years.

And give me a hurricane any day over a tornado--you have time to prepare. Tornado, maybe a half hour warning of one on its way. You can know you're prone to maybe getting one, but, once it forms, boom. Head for the basement or bathtub with a mattress over your head, and hope.

We had a nasty storm that consisted mainly if microbursts killing crops and ripping down trees and power lines. Knocked out power for weeks. A strong storm can surpass the power of most tornadoes. Microbursts can be duzies.

Agreed, and I was thinking that when I posted. I was referring to the incredible, brief, intense energy released by the tornado itself. . The tree through my window was on a day a tornado went down mainstreet in Bridgeport and demolished a couple of brick buildings. And a strong thunderstorm line can extend over multiple states, as compated to a single tornado. Look at today's national weather radar.
