Book time to change transmission fluid in a manual trans (so not a flush/filter change like an auto)

Book time to change the differential fluid.

I would greatly appreciate it.

Not yet in any of the labor guides I have access to but I wouldn't charge more than an hour each, more than likely they'd fall under a flat or menu price

Do factory service intervals exist for those fluids? If no you're unlikely to find them in a labor guide.

That's what I was thinking. Because I loath dealing with gear oil, I called one shop that was trying to tell me his book said 2.5 hours for a manual transmission oil change.

I figured it was a berkeley you price.

Zero labor times for anything in Alldata, right now.

A 2020 BRZ lists .5 for each service.

Best fluids for street use are Motul Gear300 in the diff and ELF 75w80NFP in the gearbox (although you'd probably have to import that). Motul Gear300 works decently in the gearbox as well, or you could go for Redline MT85 which seems to be the best dual-duty gearbox oil.

That's what I figured. And they are basically the exact same underneath as the first gen.

I figured 1 hour is more than enough for a professional shop to do both, so when the shop quoted me 3.5 hours to do both, I almost E36 M3 myself.

While we're at it what's the book time for a '17 Toyobaru on:

- Change diff cover

- Change all diff bushings

In reply to GameboyRMH :

I show the cover at 2.5, the bushings calls for dropping the diff, exhaust and sway bar, but I didnt have a time listed

Cover: 2.5hr.

Bushings: No labor.  Going be procedure and adding up, 4.4 for the diff assembly, .2 for the exhaust pipe, and .9 for the stabilizer bar = about 6 hours with some extra for the actual bushings.

The only ones they list are the ones in the crossmember.  By inference, this means you probably replace the diff assembly if the other ones fail.

Thanks all. I have aftermarket bushings to put in. At 6 hours, I think I'll try DIYing that one...

Thanks! What book are you using that is showing 2nd times where AllData isn't? I'm just going ahead and letting a different shop do it that I've used before, they did the FM Coolant tank install and coolant flush on my NC, they just aren't a performance specialty shop.
