Would you bid on a wrecked S2K to build into a track rat? Curious about opinions. Personally cannot bid on this car due to, well personal issues. But that doesn't mean I can't dream or ask the question.

Hell - I'd be tempted to paint the substructure to match and throw some bike fenders on it and call it done.
I'd buy anything if it was
A) Legally acquired B) the price was right
Yes, at the right price, that would be a great track toy or bar that, an even better Locost donor.

looks like it might need some front end suspension bits, i'd say its a winner
Yes. I heard that an S2000 that went into the wall at Summit Point last fall got auctioned off, went for under $2000. Don't know what the new owner's plans are, but mine would be Locost. Might not be Miata donor cheap, but still nicely priced for the drivetrain.
Yes. Then I'd put a hood on it to keep out the bad weather. Motorcycle style fenders are a good idea on this one if it's going to see any rain. I guess if the car is weather dependant the hood is an option too.
Track Rat.

The ad says the frame is straight and it doesn't appear to have any damage from the pictures. I could be wrong. It happens a lot according to my wife.
Edit: Highlighted a few points of interest
eh throw a cage and adjustable suspension bits at it and a little frame tweakage won't hurt nothin.
I'd buy it if I had the money.. I'd buy just about everything that gets posted in this forum if i had enough money though, as I'm sure most of you would too. So thats not sayin much.
Actually I've spent some time in a supercharged s2k that was rolled over on a test drive. Car salesman and customer walked away fine and the dealership was so impressed they bought a large number of used ones to sell.
Buddy of mine owns a shop that this dealership has a relationship with, sold it on the cheap to him. Even with the pretty extensive body work that needed done, he'll still walk away with a profit. Of course he/we/friends did the body work so that saved a great amount of the expense. And that money was then spent on a super charger. They are amazingly stout.
I would think that there are enough good parts on that that even after pulling the drive train you would see a very substantial part of the cost come back. Nice interior, rear clip, lotsa stuff.
Should point out there are still several days left in the auction. We shall see how it ends.
What would be the max something like that should go for?
Helz yeah, I'd buy it (if I had the money-duh). I bet you could sell off the seats, radio, interior bits, passenger airbag (didn't look like it went off), speakers, and other amenities and get enough dough to put some racing seats, a hood, and fenders on the thing. Paint them with the canned aerosol spray paint that always shows up in The Magazine.
MEGA-EDIT: Oh your God! It's in Brooklyn! I kinda live there! I was thinking that it would have been in California or Florida which is where all the gems seem to turn up.

Probably no more than it's at now.
If the frame is straight, then junkyard sheetmetal and a few cans of flat black would make that thing rule as a track toy.
