General Motors has trademarked its versions of Teslas Ludicrous mode.

Watts to Freedom unlocks the full potential of the propulsion system of the upcoming Hummer and puts all of its available power to the pavement.

Access to the full gamut of power in the upcoming Silverado is granted through a special setting called Wide Open Watts Mode.

Yes GM responded to Ludicrous with WOW and WTF.

Watts to Freedom.  This needs a Bald Eagle bursting thru an American flag or something....

My service manager was discussing the new Hummer, because GM is hammering us with all the promo material, and I mentioned something about the Tesla Plaid. The following conversation went something like this:

Boss: The new Hummer is going to be really fast.

Me: It's 9500lbs. The Tesla is literally half the weight.

Boss: Yeah, but the Hummer has 1000hp.

Me: Yeah. So does the Tesla. And half the weight.

Boss:....Oh.

A Rivian can be had with 800HP (I think) and weighs under 6K pounds. It ought to be pretty quick. I saw a Bolt take off from a stop light last week and even it was impressive compared to my Cooper "S". I wonder how many electric vehicles will be too quick for the NHRA without roll cages in the next few years?

Getting 9500lbs from 0-60mph in ~3sec is still damned fast. And stupid.

The other cool thing is that the Hummer originally did wheelies before they tuned them out.

WOW is right

Funny, when Tesla does this is sounds whimsical and kinda funny. When GM does it, it sounds just plain retarded.  Sorry GM, you can't force Hip.

Many.

Occasionally I'll just rip for a while with the Bolt and it is quite entertaining. It isn't even intended to be quick, it just is.

And in all Volvos for the last 5 years or so.

[edit]

I don't care how ridiculously quick it is, I have less than zero interest in a daily-use vehicle that weighs nearly 5 BERKING TONS.

Funny how that full torque at zero RPM things works......A Bolt is FWD only, right?

I'll take that bet because the Tesla is already out, customer's have already taken delivery of them and blasted mid-9s bone stock, and they have weighed in at 4700lbs.

Our shop only has one lift capable of picking it up. And I'm definitely a little squeamish at the thought of GM setting 5-ton, 1000hp vehicles loose in the hands of the general public. Especially because, at least in my experience in the 10 years at our dealership, the average Hummer owner is women in their mid-40s who sink boatloads of money into them "because they don't make them anymore, so I can't replace it." So how many of them are going to run out and buy a new one, without knowing any details, just because it has the Hummer badge on them?

Yup. I bought mine simply to reduce $/mile, but wow it's fun to squirt around with no hit to longevity of anything.

You're cross shopping the S plaid with the Hummer?

I mean, rereading it I see you did say Plaid in there. To be fair I thought you were speaking of a hypothetical Cybertruck plaid. Why would anyone cross shop the Hummer and the S plaid? Of course it weighs more. It's a lifted 4WD truck vs a sedan. The S plaid weighs more than an Elise as well, but comparison is meaningless.
