No. The official saturn speak was 'steel space frame'. For all intents and purposes just like any other unibody structure, but with no regard for aestetics. Then over top, a plastic body panel attaches with torx screws. Roof was metal, but I think it unbolted too. I always thought a suitably crazy person could easily remove body panels and stitch weld the frame for some saturday afternoon fun.

as for the EV-1, it was part petro politics and part available technology that did it in.

as for the first gen saturn, my time in one was more disapointing than my time spent in a 2nd gen K car
