In your mind how many miles should a "fun car" accumulate in a year? All of our cars, minus our DD (which I would also consider a "fun car") sit in our garage waiting to be driven. With around 10 fun cars, plus a few motorcycles, (not race cars or broken cars) it can take some effort to rack up the miles. Unfortunatley most of my time now is spent maintaing, upgrading, repairing and much less time driving. I'm debating selling a couple, so I can have a little more time to enjoy them. The problem with that is I'm a car whore, so would more than likely use the money form the sale to turn around and buy another car or bike.

Exactly. Our "fun car" driving now gets spread out over 5 vehicles. My E30 didn't even get driven at all last year, although I'm planning to change that this year by running a full auto-x season (11 events). My truck only gets a couple of thousand or so since I only drive it when I need to haul something big or dirty that I don't want to put into the back of my wagon.

5,000 maybe?
I guess part of the shock is also that it's new. I have a fun car that only gets a few thousand miles a year. It's a Jeep that cost me $3500. The top hasn't been put up in 3 years. It gets driven on Jeep days. In this case though, someone dropped $30k, and get far less use than my Jeep that isn't weatherproof.
