I emailed them a question about their reproduction emergency brake console, was it grained as the original was or was it smooth? I needed a simple one word answer. Easy as can be. Rather than sending me a return email, they posted the question on their damned message board soliciting customers to answer the question in their stead. Damned insane and stupid business practice if you ask me. I emailed them once again asking. pleeding for a single word email from them and got an answer that while they appreciated my interest, they couldn;t post my answer on their forum ! ? ! ? ! ?
WTFingF? Needless to say, I contacted another vendor, asked the same question, got a single word response "grained" within a two hour span and bought it from them. Has anyone else run into this sort of foolishness with these idiots? Love to know if this is the new crowd sourcing/Facebooking trend with retailers? I'm going to need a pretty good bundle of interior parts for this Vette and would have gone with anyone who seemed trustworty, Eckler's is off of the list, the folks that I just bought the console from are right up at the top. Next up, door panels, T-top interior panels, wood grain kit, carpets, e-brake handle repair kit, and complete screw kit to put the interior back together. Not a small order but one that Ecklers just lost due to their insane business practices ! ! ! !
It's the Amazon methodology of doing things. Crowd source an answer, cut your support staff, and leave some half-ass answer up for everyone to see.
You can probably tell how I feel about this. I am surprised though that they didn't email you back. I can't imagine that they have so many inquiries a couple people couldn't handle it.
I needed a a set of the aluminum lock pins for the knock off wheels for a 65 I was working on.
"No, really, I will pay you $20 to walk back to the warehouse, throw them in an envelope and mail them to me. I don't want UPS, because that will cost me over $50 at the border for these four tiny aluminum pins. I'll risk not having a tracking number,"
"No"
Off to a competitor...
Hard to know about your products when you don't physically have any to look at. I suspect they drop ship their items either from the manufacturing locations or the companies that manufacture them.
Back in 1983-ish my buddy bought a smashed up front 1964 Red Corvette convertible and he talked me into driving from Westmont, IL to Effingham, IL to pick up a bunch of parts for his car - 215 miles each way in my little Datsun. It was a long day and many miles but I almost blew a gasket when we got to Mid America Motorworks and he bought two $8.00 rubber pieces. All that time and driving for that? Given it was pre-internet days it wasn't as easy to get parts but at least buy more stuff - fill the 310GX!
He bought a new fiberglass front end and had it delivered only to freak out and not be able to graft in the fiberglass so one day without telling us he traded it to a Corvette place for a 1969 Corvette that needed a lot of mechanical work. That 1964 however was a sweet car.
