What would GRM do? Junkyard hunt? Plastic milk carton heat/patch technique? Or fuel cell?
(Application is a 93 escort GT, the tank is different than a protege LX's, so the parts car is no help. I had a line on one from a guy parting one out in central NJ, but he's been pretty flaky)
Car-parts.com is where I would start.
Edit. I just looked it up and there is a bunch listed for either the 1.8 or the 1.9. They range in price from $40 - $100. You will most likely need to call and see who will ship if you can not find one reasonably local to you.

I'd text my friendly FL GRM guy and ask him to look in his yards.
Got a 94, 97, 98, and 99 in local yards. Just thought ... they like to put holes in them. Is it hidden enough that they couldn't get to it?
What's wrong with it? If it's just a gash or whole I would think a plastic welder would work fine if it isn't too big.
In reply to EvanB :
It's cracking from age and vibration from tired motor mounts (which is being addressed)

This.
And obviously address the vibration/mounting/exacerbating issues as well.

I admittedly hadn't thought of online yard distributors, that will likely be the winning route.
Same as Escort LX? LKQ Mt Airy has a 93 LX 4dr.
In reply to Steve_Jones :
Sadly different from the 1.9lx. I should've grabbed the tank from the gt that they had there 6 weeks ago, but alas, I didn't (as I was planning on snagging the one from the guy in NJ for free when getting the rollbar).
What exactly is different about them? If it is the same chassis, it should bolt in, the fuel lines and filler neck should be in the same spot, so the difference has got to be capacity or emissions related fittings.
Let me see if I can find Matt Wolfe's contact info, he has been racing Escorts and Proteges for longer than I care to think and probably knows what is cross compatible.
I have successfully plastic welded one from an Alpine A110. Much less available than the escort tank and it was as screw puncture hole in a tank that is not exposed to the ground, nor hung by straps. I used Scalextric slot car track as filler material. I think a tank with separating seams that hangs beneath the chassis is beyond the technique.

I could message Matt, I know that the part #s are different though.
In reply to TurnerX19 :
The plan is likely to repair the current one, after replacing it, to have as a reinforced spare, as the reality is that the replace will also be nearly 30 year old plastic as well.
A thread I can contribute to!
First off, other than rust around the fuel pump preventing a good seal, I have yet to see one of these plastic escort tanks actually fail. Impressive! I believe this is why they aren't available aftermarket... they simply were never needed.
Second, I've never done it personally, but you should be able to swap in an escort LX tank without any trouble. As far as I am aware the only difference is that the GT came with about 1 gallon greater fuel capacity in order to provide similar range per tank. There's a chance (albeit a slim on) that the tank straps and heat shields are also LX/GT specific for this reason.
