OK guys last time I had you try and talk me down I ended up with another Viper. So someone offered a ton of money to me for the Prowler that I have. Maybe 15% more then it is worth on its best day, waiting to see if he will go through with the deal.
But that leaves another space in the garage. So how do we feel about the Dutch. I have heard that they can be had for much much less then you would expect.
Its fast, convertible and should be decently comfortable. The wife has put her foot down again on anything too old or to snotty.
There are a few 2006 kicking around the used market that I could get for lets say good 07 Vantage money.
Decent motor with good reliability (Audi 4.2), and killer good looks.
I've heard they have weird handling dynamics and aren't the fastest. So, it's basically an even sexier Audi R8.
I say go for it; but only because it is a dead sexy car.

Allegedly you can get the updated spring pack which brings the car to the nicer 2011 suspension.
Some day when I grow up I wanna be you.
Not helpful, but it's all I got.
One of the sexiest cars ever made. I'd buy based on that alone.
I wonder how weird is weird in the handling department? Like "charismatic" or "psychotic"?
All I know for sure is that I find it a much more lustworthy car than a Prowler...
Also, I commend you for having about the best "talk me down" threads...
Sounds like a good idea to me, if someone wants your prowler more than you do, and you like that car and could afford it when you sell the prowler then why not?
I don't think it's sexy, I think it was somebody trying too hard, all the chrome, long nose, bulbous butt.
How much we talking here?

I just can't understand anyone coming to this forum and hoping to get talked OUT of getting a car ... any car ... much less one like that

Them E36 M3s are funky, but they're my kinda funky. There's probably more Prowlers than there are Spykers. Do it up.
Not a fan, then again, it's not my money.
I think the styling is a little very new money/oil nation for me.
R8? Aston Martin?
Buy a nice used Radical RS3rs and go play?
Looks like what Bond SHOULD have been driving in the new movie. Can't argue with those looks...

I kind of feel that way, but the build construction of the two that I have seen is just so over the top and well done it kind of is OK

That's what I have the Viper for.
On a side note the handling has been described to me as psychotic without the update.
I have driven the R8 at it does not feel special, the Aston I could boar you with all the details of how bad the last three I have looked at were. Plus two of the guys I used to work, twins, both bought DB9's and both were lemoned and both the replacement cars from Aston were bad.
By far one of the worst exotics I have ever driven. Has a racing rack in it, so to park in a spot requires a 50 point turn. Brakes have no stopping power unless warmed up. Top provides no protection from the elements (even has a sticker on the dash telling you this). Shifter and exposed linkage gets up to 900 degrees when sitting in the sun. The starting procedure rivals that of the space shuttle.

Finally someone with first hand knowledge. All of those things sound bad, or at least reproduced in one of my other cars.
All I have ever done is sit in one and make motor noises while someone kept trying to give me terrible stuffed mushrooms and super strength drinks.
This is all I know about them:

It is a pretty car. We sold 2 at Lambo at a sticker price of $200,000. Last I heard, Akon, the rap artist, got an '07 for $50,000. MAJOR depreciation value. Compared against Gallardos and 430s and 997 twins, it's a turd. A pretty turd, but still a turd.
Oh, always got shocked when opening the door since the door handle is the push button on the mirror
I would get the vantage... . .. . . or a Jag

Those are the prices, well close enough, that I am seeing for car with more then say 4K miles in the 06/07 range. Not often that you can get a 200K car for 1/4 the price with lets be charitable and say reasonable repair costs.

Yea. Not sure how many Certified dealers are still out there. I know Lambo Atlanta was Certified, then they got rid of the franchise. So I'd imagine finding a good place to get them serviced will be few and far between on top of being a pretty penny to get them serviced.
I honestly believe that an Aston Vantage (not sure how much they have depreciated to) or a 997 C4 or even an R8 would be better bang for the buck.
Not trying to scare you off. They are very pretty cars. Hell, the North American Sales Manager was an ex-Finnish model! Just not a good car. That's all.
DO IT and I can live vicariously through you.

As for the Aston I really love the looks but they just don't have the oomph to justify the cost. Plus I drove the V12V and it is everything I want the car to be but at three times the price of a vantage.
The R8 is boring, at least in the v8/auto that is in this price point, and I have had way way to many Porsche's at this point.

Yea, I'm personally not an "R8" fan. You can get a used Gallardo for the same price and the Gallardo looks better IMO. Though I don't really recommend buying a Gallardo. The '04 E-Gear is by far the worst to get. A 6 speed isn't terrible. The E-Gears tend to eat clutches. At $10k for a clutch, I'll pass. Don't think 430's have sunk to early Gallardo money yet. I'd easily take a 430 over a Gallardo. Not a 360 though. Well, maybe a 360 Spider in a 6 Speed. The only cars I can come up with would be Astons and Porsches. Brad knows more about the Porsche market than I do. I think you can get a 997 Twin in the $80's now. I'd personally get a Exige S. That is by far, one of the most fun cars I have ever driven! Yea, creature comfort sucks and it's no where near as glamorous to pull up to a 5 star restaurant on a Saturday night. But, my God, it is such a terrific car to drive!
