So we hit a deer a few weeks back, luckily it was small and only a couple cracks on the bumper and cracked coolant reservoir tank. Was able to drive it home no issues but noticed the leak the next day. Car sat for a week while waiting for the new tank.
Swapped the tank and now the car will not start. Turns over but just will not get going.
Confirmed fuel at the rail so pump is working, starter obviously, didn't check spark.
I had to move the MAF out of the way to replace the reservoir tank. Maybe this got damaged? Visual inspection looks good but not sure how to test.
Any typical relays?
Thought about using some starter fluid to get her going and see if that'll free up something stuck not letting her start but not sure how starter fluid and modern engines/electronics go together.

I have the same motor in my X5. I don't know the issue. I would look over at xoutpost.com the seem to have good ideas.

Did it overheat? The M54 does not tolerate overheating well at all.
EDIT: Not sure that's an M54 in that car; might be an N52. Need to check.
SECOND EDIT: It should be an M54 from what I can find.

No it didnt overheat.
I tried some starter fluid which did nothing. I'm thinking no spark now

The best answer is to get your hands on a proper BMW-specific scanner and check the fault codes. Failing that it's basic diagnostics, but my money's on a vacuum leak.
I would start by checking your work. Un plug and re plug in the MAF. Then look for spark. Also fuel at the rail does not mean you have pressure. FPR and or pump could still also be an issue.
Are there any sensors or wiring in the bumper that could have got damaged?
Facebook group I joined to get some help just told me to bring it to a mechanic.
Off to find the workshop manual.....
