Nope. Still legal. Leave the "interior " in.
My v6 swapped miata is very much a streetable race car, not a raceable street car.
Finished appearing interior, lights, wipers, glass, 200tw, and send it. Thats pretty much the ruleset in a nutshell.
Yeah think of XS as CAM with wings. So basically as long as you can still be street legal in your state of register, you're good to go.
