So- my wife is the awesomer. She has promised me wheels and tires for this-

It's the black one. My basic rule of thumb is this. I'm going down to a 17" wheel to get some more tire clearance. I'll be running 40-45 series 245's on it, either Direzza z1 star specs, or Parada specII's. I am open to other suggestions on tires as well. I wanted them to be all black, but that isn't a reality. I need roughly a +40 or so offset to run a 9 inch wheel. I'd prefer an 8" just for weight, but no one makes anything that doesn't look like ass. So I turn it to you. What do you think about what wheels the wifey should purchase for me? She hasn't set a price either, which is SCARY..... but at the same time, I'm not going to ask her for Volks.
Your pic isn't showing.
I can't find anything on the Tire Rack or Discount Tire in 17x8" (I used an 07' Mazda3 hatch for TR). Here's a few I like in 17x7.5".
Enkei RPF01
O.Z. Superturismo
Konig Feather
The Enkei looks like the racing special and it's very light. I don't know how much the Konig weighs, but it doesn't look like it weighs much. The O.Z.s are heavier but look beefier, like a rally car wheel.
If I were going with 17's on my MS3, I'd go with the O.Z.s for street rims (they'd go great with my Rally Armor mudflaps) and the Enkeis for racing.
RPF01s make anything more awesomer

Apparently the boards work different that the coding I'm used to, swapped it to a link.

You might consider some 18" RX8 take-offs, save some money and spend the difference on some really sticky rubber.
Might be an option when/if the wife does set a price.
I have seen a few black out Speed 3s, and they look really nice (and mean).
The lightest wheels you can buy.
SSR, TR Motorsports, RPF01
RPF01.
OR alternatively, shop the used market, get some awesome RP01s. (yes, no "F")
The Enkei RPF is a good choice. I hate that all blacked out look but its your car...
AutoRND.com is run by a Mazda enthusiast - might want to give him a call and discuss. He probably has done this already. He also has excellent prices and service for wheels and suspension.

I'm probably not going to do all black anymore. I've recently become enamored with purple wheels, as I painted my winter steelies purple. We shall see. I may paint them pink as well.
I am pretty partial to orange. Safety Orange is the best.

Safety Orange has been claimed by another club member. Sadly. As has lime green.
