Nah, that just means you don't buy anything over challenge price.
In the last 4 years: $500 MR2, $300 Miata, $1700 Nova, $1250 Ranger...

We've had the Datsun1200 since 1984, I High School buddy bought it from the original owner in 83, we started autocrossing it in 89 and road racing it in 92. It was simply an old car when we got it and now it's a "vintage" race car.

We've kept the Protege for 11 years now but since acquiring the Subaru it will be going bye bye. I've also had the current tow vehicle for 10 years.

This is a relatively new trend for me, normally I drive a year or two and off they go. My wife on the other hand; in 30 years she's had 3 cars.

I don't do long term either. 3 years is a long time for me. Having said that I have an 08 Miata that I bought new and still have, but it doesn't get driven in winter so...............in Michigan that's only about 6 months out of the year. It will get replaced as soon as the new Miata comes out in a PRHT version.

If you don't count the 'body swap' i did, i've had my dynasty since i was 17 (so 14 years). My aries since i was 19. My original 5spd caravan for 9 years, my spirit for 8 years. Various other things for 5+ years.

Recently i bought a car, stripped some parts off it, and sold it the next day. So i guess my shortest relationship is now officially one day.

I got my first Fairmont in '87. I still have it, but it needs fully restored. My '79 F-150 (460/C6/2wd) came from my grandfather in '93, and he bought it new. It also needs some lovin'.

I've had my current mazda 6 for almost 6 years now. If rust doesn't kill it, I may just keep it forever as a backup car.

I bought my Civic in 1997 with 26000 miles on it. I still use it as my daily driver. It turned over 200,000 miles three weeks ago.

The car in my profile a 2001 corolla. Bought new may 2001 with 3 miles in it. 15 years later with 212000+ miles on it and still on the original clutch. So many memories in that thing. My kids can't recall anytime before I owned it because my eldest was one when I got it

Sit down for this one. I've got a 2002 VW Jetta 1.8T that I bought new in 2001. 146K miles on it and used it to teach both my son and daughter to drive (manual transmission). It remains a car for my son to use, but while he's at college I drive it once or twice a week (one hour each way!). VW haters you can begin your ranting now.

Also have a 1998 Maxima with 186K miles that I bought new in summer of 1998. Same story, now primarily daughter's car, but not as surprising because its a Nissan. I still enjoy driving both of them.

Out of the 100 +/- cars I have owned, 2 long term vehicles were daily drivers: a 77 Blazer bought new and a used 98 Tracer S/W, both owned around 10 years. My 92 Miata was driven April-November for 10 years before being replaced by a 99 Miata.

Man I wish I had the commitment levels you guys have. My first car was a 1995 Firebird and I kept it through many other cars because of my attachment to it. I had it for a solid 5 years I think (maybe 6). It served many great purposes from picking up ladies, to hauling more friends than seats around, to delivering pizzas in college, and being a great backup ride whenever I needed one.

My wife is about to surpass that number as the longest relationship with anything I've ever had.

Cars usually last on average about 6-18 months. Ive had my chump car for a year and a half now and the same goes with a body in white civic si shell and I don't plan on letting those go.

I have a tendency to keep vehicles till they aren't worth anything. Had a 81 K5 Blazer I bought used in 83 and in 97 when someone ran a red light it went to a junkyard. It's replacement, a 95 F150 XLT Extended Cab I sold to a local forum member in 2012 or 13. I forget. I've had my 70 Opel GT since 94 when my dad gave it to me and he had it 10 years. As for SWMBO's cars, we get rid of them when they start needing $$ thrown at them. Recently got rid of my RX8 I've had for several years. It started needing $$ so I did what SWMBO wanted and traded it on a new Tacoma. I've had my 99 Miata for somewhere around 9 or so years and don't plan on getting rid of it anytime soon but am planning more upgrades for autocross and hopefully track days.

My 05 Malibu is coming up for its 11th birthday.

My mother had a 79 Malibu till about 97 so that's 18 years.

My dad's 69 vette is at 47 years and counting as he got it new off the assembly line.

I've owned my '64 Valiant since early March of '87.

Having had the car almost 30 years, I find it increasingly difficult to blame things on the previous owners.

The longest I ever owned a car was 8 years. It was my Camaro RS. I just loved that car and didn't want to trade it in. Before that I normally traded in my cars every 2 to 3 years. I got board with them and wanted a change.
