Hmm, the wife is flying out there for the SCCA convention. I wonder if I could talk her into driving it back.
Funny you brought this up. I had this revelation last night. Ultimate ZAV?
Runs on berkeleying dirt and water (no diesel required,) quiet. No maintenance required. And if you can't find E36 M3 else for food....
Truck is cool... but if the Zombies are coming, I am getting off of land.
This is my idea of the Ultimate ZAV. I will be off shore until they have eaten all the brains, turned on each other, and finally died.,

Downside: It's made of meat and has a decent-sized brain.

Both of those things are upsides, if you are hungry enough.

So am I, but the horse can run a lot faster than my fat ass can.

....hungry enough OR lonely enough. I'm just sayin.

So says the man with a unicorn as his avatar....
Actually had a small apocalypse preparedness scenario with the fiancee last week. Mostly in humor, but setting aside zombies, if there happens to be any kind of major disaster that wipes out most people on the planet, we discussed how a big tough truck is exactly the wrong answer. A car or truck is only as good as the roads it is driven on. If the roads are clogged with abandoned cars, you ain't going nowhere.
The correct answer is a horse or all-terrain motorcycle (yes the motorcycle runs on gas, but you'll figure out how to scavenge that from all the abandoned gas stations quickly enough). The boat is great in the event of zombies, but you're limited for food. You need to be able to travel overland to where you can scavenge non-perishable food until you find a farming commune of other survivors.

Yeah, after a week of feeding me fish and rainwater, you'll have wish you'd stayed with the zombies.

I'll stick to lonely and fed, thanks.

Unless you're an antipescatarian like me.
The truck is really cool. Man, if I had time, money and space there would be a lot of weird vehicles in my awesome garage.
My son always says a boat is the way to go. But I dunno. Sure, zombie problem solved, but you need supplies. I'd head to a military installation. Maybe a missile silo. Being in Denver, I might try to make my way to Cheyenne Mountain down in the Springs.
what supplies do you need on a boat? you attach solar cells and a windmill to charge batteries, A watermaker, and you go ashore on occasion for fresh fruits to keep scurvy at bay... regular food is a hook and bait away.. or you can eat seagull if you want something fowl (foul?)

Or, as a wiser feller than myself put it: "Nothing good ever came from a place where you can sit on your ass and let coconuts fall on your head all day."
