My son is having problems with the parking brake on his 98 ZX2. When the parking brake is applied and released, the left side shoe (trailing on the left side), barely moves. When he presses on the brake pedal, the trailing shoe moves less than the leading show and less than the right brake shoes. Everything is lubed, etc. I am thinking it is either the cable or something to do with the wheel cylinder not moving enough (since the shoe does not move much when the brake is depressed). It could be that the trailing shoe is binding. Any advice?

Everything may be lubed but something is not moving. The cable attaches to a lever that theoretically pivots on the equalizer bar/adjuster assembly, but that pivot generally needs to be de-seized on a regular basis. Same for the adjuster cam.
