I'm getting more serious about the restoration of my late-80's JDM Suzuki GSXR250 and need to replace the original (!) tires. Ideally I'd like something on the sporting side, and thought I'd found it with the IRC RX-02, but my local bike shop says that several suppliers show them as NLA and one other shows them as back ordered, so he is worried they may not actually be available. I dug around looking for something else like maybe Bridgestone BT46 or Pirelli Sport Demons, but can't find any fronts in the right size.

The stock rims are only 2.5 and 3.5 inches, so I'd really rather not stuff a 110 or 120 front and a 140 or 150 rear on there.

I'd also rather not start down the rabbit hole of adapting wider wheels from another bike. I've been down that road, and I just don't want to start tipping over the dominoes of hub bearings, then custom wheel spacers, then the brakes don't fit, and then you might as well just swap the whole front end and swingarm from another bike, and next thing you know you are trying to machine custom triple clamps, and so on...Maybe someday, but for now I just need some tires to fit.

Any suggested sources. I like to support my local shop, and he can get stuff from WPS, Tucker, and Parts Unlimited and we exhausted all three of this catalogs.

I wish I had a directly useful thing, but I wonder about pinging manufacturers directly; or local reps who do trackside service if they exist in your area? Just thinking about who's going to both know what they make and have an understanding of correct fitment and suitable substitutes.

A decent modern tire available in both sizes i believe.

Thanks for all the input so far, it has been helpful. I've always been pleased with Michelin motorcycle tires; I have the Pilot Power cup on one of my supermotos, and Pilot Road on my VFR.

FWIW, I found very little info on the Pilot Activ, but I did uncover the brand-new Michelin Road Classic which I am guessing may be replacing the Activ??? In any case, looks like it will be just the ticket.

Is your bike old enough to have originally come on bias ply tires? If so, switching to radial can be a downgrade, as they get set up with different steering geometry.

I know that does not make it any easier...
