Learn me 1st gen zx10.....

I know a bit about them, and I know this particular bike pretty well.....but what are some tips to look at? The price is very reasonable.

Well, its been 6 years since I learned to ride and swore off motorcycles(due to a tragedy), but I have to say, that is no longer the case. She's an '04 ZX10r with 24k on the clock.

This was delivered for me tonight

I took her out for a cruise down my road just to reacclimate myself, and effin love it. Guess I need to go get my motorcycle endorsement and buy some gear again.

I've been on a liter bike exactly one time, I painted a GSXR1000 for a guy. After I got it back together I thought I would take it for a ride around the block. Gave it about a quarter throttle in first and scared the crap out of myself. Puttered around the block in first and parked it waiting for the owner to come pick it up.

I agree, I rolled into 4th gear at about 40 and it tried to stand up. .

I test rode a 'busa when they first came out, pulled that same thing at 55ish. It didn't try, it did. bit of a wake up call eh?

Best way yet I have found to pucker up the 'ol butthole......I found out why it is kinda wheelie happy........evidently, the damn thing is actually a shorter wheelbase than most and weighs the same wet as 600's......just with north of 150hp on tap.

The e21 went to a good home (to be restored properly) for this monster.

That's funny. My E21 hasn't even been started since I got my bike. I'm never selling it though, I regretted selling my first one every day. Just wish I had a garage so it won't have to sit outside.

Yea, I kinda regret it, but at the same time, I couldn't bring myself to restore the body like it was going to need. I have a fanatical side of myself that won't do that to a car in "survivor" condition.

This liter bike would murder you if you even took the time to pay attention to either one on your shoulder

The guy I got it from has one of the Muzzy's zx10r Raptor turbo bikes as well.......

What's strange, I drive fast in cars, I used to on the middleweight bikes, but this thing is just crazy.....so I am going to behave. Should be a nice commuter bike.

I learned on my dads 1200 wing, my first bike of my own was a retired race/track day 900rr that had some headwork done, cams, pipe and carbs rejetted. It also had a change in gearing. That thing was retarded quick compared to dads wing. Right hand discipline and restraint is key to surviving a liter bike on the street, most of them will spin the rear tire out from under you with a moments notice if you're just a bit ham fisted with it. I kind of miss that jump for the horizon feeling, but seeing as how the last 6-8 months I've been driving like an old man on the street. It would likely be wasted on me now days.

Just remember this please! The OH E36 M3 moments happen faster on a bike than a car, and unfortunately with commuting you have to take other drivers into consideration, so they happen far more often. The faster you go, the faster they happen. 100mph squirt (too easy to hit triple digits in seconds on that machine) equates to roughly 8800 feet per min, or 147 fps. Adjust the distance you're looking down the road accordingly. Not trying to flounder, or be a killjoy, I've known too many people that have no business on a big bike. This board is like an extended malfunctioning family, I don't want to hear about someone getting hurt.

In my defense I ride pretty comparably to how I drive. Actually more like if I am willing to do 7/10 on the street in a car, I will do 6/10 on the bike. The bike just hits Oh E36 M3! speeds a lot quicker and the S2000 can not pick its own front off the ground.

Pretty much sums it up.......Insurance classed it as a "Touring Motorcycle" So I will pay $9/year more than the e21.

Yeah, and I tend to drive quick whenever possible, I have that one disease...leadfoot? A bike is a terrible idea for me.

SS liter bikes are more tempermental than the big busa or 14 and seem to have more pucker factor. the 14 ect is so stable you cant believe you're going 140. Whats funny is popping a wheelie on a stretched bike, feels like a damn extension ladder

Hence why you can barely find a liter bike used that doesn't have a stretched swing ARM installed anymore. I found an R1 recently that was relatively unmolested on CL, emailed the guy in the morning, exchanged a few emails, told him I would be by after work to look. Called when I got out of work before I headed that way, and it was gone.

Yea, they are hard to find stock. This one at some point was kept stock for road course racing.

I kinda like a stretched bike if its done right. Smoother ride and you can be Captian HamFist with the throttle all over the place lol

Yea, I don't need that......I'd rather it remind me that its plotting my demise multiple times every second.

List of things I do need ASAP consists of only a steering dampner before I go long distances.....although I have had zero issues with it thus far, only a sneaking suspiscion.
