Ah, just noticed it 's already running. I only saw page one! Go back and fix its air leaks. Really.

Hah, wow, this thread is now 10 years old. 
 

Here's the follow-up: I got bored after a year or so and took the engine off this old Raleigh frame, then repainted it better to really round out the WWII theme. Then I sold it at a swap meet for a tidy profit, and told the guy the whole story. 

A year after that, we were walking around antiques stores in DeLand, and saw the exact same bike with a crazy high price tag ($1800 maybe?) labeled "original WWII bike." It was definitely mine—same spray paint, same bent right crank arm, same everything. I just laughed and kept walking. Not sure where it is now, but at this rate it will be at Barrett-Jackson soon.

Wow! All I saw was the December part of the date! Duh!

I did get to read a great story 'bout a "WWII bike" though, so all is good!!!!
