After selling my RC51, I missed having v-twin character in my life. To rememdy this, I purchased something that is awesome sauce. I just got a great deal on a 2009 Aprilia Tuono Factory. Pictures will come when it arrives. I'm just excited and needed to post, even if I don't have it in my grubby mitts yet.

Well that sounds like a sweet upgrade, if I do say so myself. Look forward to pics.

Sweet, I hear the rc51 are an handful to ride. I met a guy who had one as a race bike, said he bought it as an insurance write off with 300 miles on it.

Hopefully the aprilia doesn't give you too many headaches.

Sweet. I had a 2004 Aprilia Mille Factory. It was a great bike, you don't see them everywhere.

Aprilias are the Hondas of Italian bikes. I'm a big fan of the Rotax engine in them. They are definitely less maintenance intensive than a Ducati. Unfortunately, there aren't many options when it comes to sporty v-twins.

The RC51 was fun, but took a lot of effort to ride well. It would make me incredibly tired after a day in the mountains.

The Tuono is really comfortable. The Factory version has that sweet Olihns suspension and lightweight forged wheels. The carbon fiber is pretty cool, too.

An RC isn't some big meanie, its just heavy as E36 M3 and first gens like to burn your berkeleying legs off. Aprilia V twins sound (IMHO) better than any other twin. But don't get upset if it has some small electrical gremlins, the bikes are solid and exotic to most. I miss mine

Aprilia's are amazing rides. I used to follow a guy around with a Futura. The last time I talked to him he had 40k trouble free miles on it. Tuono's are gorgeous btw. Great find.

Sorry, I didn't take any pics of the canoe or its deletion. Updated status: still deleted.

But the RC51 is a V-twin, I'm confused why you would sell it. Either way pics of the Tuono please!

I sold the RC51 awhile back, and got the fever again. I have not had much of a chance to ride the Tuono yet.

That is just beautiful. Last fall I was pretty seriously considering a Mille or RSV, I saw some very nice ones for what I considered very reasonable prices. I will be interested in hearing how you like your Tuono.

I love the Tuono! Haven't had the opportunity to ride one yet. May I ask how good of a deal you got? Dealer? PP?

I got it from AF1 Racing in Texas. The bike was shipped to my door for $8700; which I think is an awesome price for a 2009 Tuono Factory with 5.5k miles. For regular gen 2 Tuonos, you're looking at $5-8k.

Well bought sir! Definitely an awesome price. I've seen some second gens on the lower end of 5K but they're usually the bad color combos and higher miles. I'm tempted by the 1st gens because they are so cheap (probably because ugly IMO).

Just put in a bigger battery and installed new pipes yesterday. Wrenching on motorcyles>wrenching on cars. I dropped a ton of weight with the new cans.

The mirrors on this motorcycle are actully useful! It is very comfortable for commuting, but is a monster in the mountains. It also handles a pillion very well. The only negative is fuel range.

What's the range on that nearly ideal motorcycle?

You can get about 150 miles out of a tank, but the light comes on around 100 miles. It's a small tank, and the motorcycle gets 33ish mpg if you're having fun.
