I took pictures of the most recent tiny adventure on my tiny adventure bike so I might as well post them:
In reply to NBraun :
Nice bike, and as reliable as a Toyota Truck. Can't go wrong. Come to Sturgis with us this year.
In reply to Dr. Hess :
My dad and I will be out there the 4-6, though I live in eastern South Dakota, so it's not like we have a huge trip to get out there.
We'll most likely be staying at Hog Heaven. Should be there Mon PM through Thurs AM.
OldOpelGuy is from SE SD. Like about as far S.E. as you can go and still be in S.D. Near here:
I bought this one 17 years ago new as a left over 2000. Originally went in to pick up a used CBR 929 and came out with the R1 for the same amount. Was my only transportation for the better part of 3 years while in college. Great bike. Just came out of extended hibernation.
In reply to Slippery :
Beautiful!
I love the 1st gen R1s. They were just as much a show stopper as the 916s when they first came out.
I took my bike to an antique motorcycle show today and the organizer came over and convinced me to put it in the show. The bike hasn't been washed in a year but I stuck it in there with the other Harleys and I got 2nd place! Maybe I should have washed it? The bike that won was a WWII Army Harley with a sidecar.
Here's my new toy, a pristine 2015 zx6r anniversary abs. Its so far above my skill level it's laughable but thankfully it doesn't seem to mind poking around at a snail's pace.
Washed the bikes this weekend. Need to figure out to more finely adjust the front brakes on the Honda - takes too much effort to get real power out of them right now.
Making Progress on my projects.. The Ducati is back together and ready to ride a little. Jessica's Katana runs... Now to get it lowed and back together.
I love how much more active this thread gets as the weather gets better for riding across much of the country!
Here's a few of my latest toy ('16 Husqvarna 701 Enduro) from a nice little backroads ride a couple weeks ago:
Let's bump this thread with a pic of my little fleet earlier this evening...all running for the first time in a while.
BMW G310R . . . 313cc of urban and back road bombing fury!
Seriously, this a really fun bike to ride.
The VFR800 is almost done. I installed some cheap "condomless" mirrors, did an oil change, and replaced the regulator/rectifier. I still need to do the plugs, service the chain, replace valve steams, and get some odd-n-ends.
In reply to Strike_Zero :
That BMW looks awesome! I recently found a local group that does lightweight bike track days at a (relatively large) local kart track... It's a bunch cheaper than "big track" days.
My new bike pic:
The Aprilia left a couple of weeks ago. I am without motorcycle for the time being.
In reply to Strike_Zero :
I saw a 310r in the wild yesterday. Even better looking in person than pictures..
In reply to dxman92 :
Isn't it! They are not exaggerating that it looks like a mini S1000r.
The blue is absolutely stunning! But I "settled" for the White with some of the M colors.

I always liked that XR1200 until I saw the new Indian FTR... By comparison the HD looks really bloated...
