I'm converting from clip-ons to Superbike bars on my TL1000. I've got the bars worked out, but I just realized that I'm going to have to extend the front brake line, the throttle cable, the clutch line, etc. I'm most concerned about the electronics--I really don't want to have to make extending the wiring any more of a chore than necessary.
Any low-buck suggestions?
Congratulations, you're the fourth TL owner here. What's up with that? And the second who's streetfightered it - I'm the other one of those.
You'll be able to reroute your switch wiring to get the length you need. I have Reed bend Pro Tapers on mine, and I my switches are stock. Granted, I didn't do the conversion, so I can't tell you how to route 'em, but I know it can be done.
Mine's '97 with a cable clutch, and I run a V-Strom cable. The PO had custom brake lines made (too long), which you can do out of a catalog with Goodrich parts that just screw together, or you can have lines custom made, of course. This will apply to a hydraulic clutch line, too, of course. I believe my throttle cable is stock, but I haven't had to replace it, so I'm not sure.

Hmm, now that I mention it, I'm not sure anymore. It's been a while since I ordered a clutch cable. Put it this way: if you need a clutch cable, and the V-Strom has one, it will work.
Otherwise, give me a week or so to dig up the Motion Pro part number for the cable I used, and I'll get back to you.
