I had my 2002 YW50R Yamaha Zuma apart to install a ~huge~ 17.5mm Del'Orto carb and a pod filter, and all the slightly ratty bodywork was off and in a pile. What better time to do as I'd threatened 3 years ago when I got the thing and paint it to resemble the 2005 Laguna Seca MotoGP round livery run by the factory Yamahas, a nod to Kenny Roberts' mighty TZ750s of the late 70s?
I had plenty of "WERA novice number plate yellow" PPG Delstar paint on hand, and found the guys in the UK who sell the MotoGP replica scooter sticker sets. From there it was easy. The paint came out really furry, but cut w/ 2000 unigrit and buffed it looked fine. I detailed the rest of the bike with brake clean, S100, a clay bar to get the thick coat of overspray off, and Honda Pro Shine spray. It looks like new now.
The pipe is a LeoVince which came w/ clutch springs and variator weights. I honed the cylinder (red scotchbrite on a mandrel made on 1" polyethylene rod) and put in a new ring, replaced the variator belt, and added the carb and pod filter. It goes over 40 on the flat which is fine, but now it accelerates fairly smartly uphill to 30mph with my 220# aboard, which is a major improvement. And it sounds snarly. Not as snarly at my Derbi 72 supermoto, but that thing is just anti-social snarly, not good snarly. (note in the background that the Michelin 125 GP rain tires on the Derbi are visible, as well as a DRZ400 'motard and an e36 M3 (car) )
