So I've parted out the race car and selling the NC, I just need a break from the cars.
So I'm going to put a real lift on the 2007 4Runner (V8, 4x4, Limited) so I can go wheelin'/camping with some of my buddies.
Plan:
OME 3"/2" lift, light duty since I don't plan to add any bumpers/winches or anything heavy.
Take the tire size from 265/60/18 to 275/65/18.....possibly the Goodyear Duratrac?
1" Spacer on the wheels
From what I've researched this should all fit and work well with some minor trimming on the mudguards/inner fenderwell liners.
It will still be my DD so I'm hoping the OME stuff won't ruin the ride.
The OME stuff is really good quality. They are well respected in the Jeep community. The choice of light/heavy duty springs can be a little tricky. The light duty springs might sag when your 4 Runner is loaded up with gear. The HD springs might cause some rake when unloaded due to the higher spring rate.
Personally, I'd go with the HD springs. A small amount of rake would be better than squatting.
Are you keeping the same wheel size? I have found that by reducing the wheel size, the cost of tires decreases significantly. I went from 17s to 15s on my Wrangler and I was able to buy 15" wheels and tires for the same price as 17" tires. Plus it looks cooler
Oh and I am running 33" Duratracs on my Wrangler. I love them. Low noise, good wet weather performance and great traction. They are an awesome AT tire.
I'd try to get smaller wheels. Sidewall is your friend offroad
light duty and airbags is another choice.

I like the smaller wheel idea. Measure it out, 15" wheels may be too small for the front calipers. Then again, with th spacer??? 16" were a standard size.
Get as much sidewall as you can on that tire. OME is a great product but I would go medium front and HD in the rear because you do have the Limited and its a V8.
^That's an interesting thought, I hadn't considered it.

I think even most 17" are a tight fit for the front calipers.

You sure? I'm pretty sure I test drove a couple v8 runners with 16" wheels, but I didn't really check when I had them. I'm all but positive that the v6 models came with the same 16" wheels as the Tacoma. If you can fit a 16" wheel, tires are much cheaper with a much better selection. also being able to air down to 15-20psi on the trail without worrying about bending a rim or pinching a sidewall is helpful. It also makes the ride much nicer on a bumpy trail.
Have you thought about how you're going to deal with the xreas system?
Eta: re: trimming mudflaps and fender wells. Go ahead and ditch the mud flaps if you're doing much serious wheeling, or they'll just get torn off and tear other stuff off along with them.
I'm a sucker for a 4x4 toyota with pizza cutter tires. Not sure why.
