Truth be told, what you have is a dead solid reliable parts hauler and work truck. The V6 might pull a trailer and car if its light enough, the owners manual will list the weight. Being a full size, you won't have to worry about stability and stopping.
I would put in a good stereo, with sat radio, make sure the AC works, tint the window, debadge it as mentioned and Rhino line the bed. Down the road maybe a set of airshocks so you can adjust the ride hieght according to the load. If it doesn;t have one, get a good 6 plug trailer harness wired in, so you can haul a trailer with brakes. Other than that, leave it be. Its a good truck, you will be amazed at the uses you find for a work truck once you have one. Craigslist takes on a whole new meaning when that $100 rust heap 100 miles away suddenly becomes very do-able.
My good buddy here has a nice 99 ext cab, he has air shocks and summer and winter tires (The summers are 18 in low profiles and the winters are the stock rims with snow tires). He put the rolled rear section on it under the tailgate, debadged it and leaves it pretty much be, it's a bike hauler and occasionaly pulls a trailer. Its long ago paid for, and if this engine ever does give up the ghost, the LS transplant has already been planned.

Here's the long story on where this thing's coming from. My pop's a lawyer, and takes vehicles as payment all the time. Usually he turns around and sells them in town, sometimes he holds onto them. This one just came up, and he's well aware of my truck needs.
He only saw/drove it once, and obviously there's some miscommunication in the line somewhere about the engine/door configuration.

having said that, would you say that lund does build anything good aside from its air deflectors? i find lund quite dependable, it doesn't stay true though to every product they make.

They do. The Running Board line isn't necessarily my personal taste, but the quality is there. Same with the bug shields - high quality stuff, just not my cup-o-tea. The Soft Tonneau program has some very nice stuff. We also brought some pretty cool innovation to the Billet Grille world. Even the old fiberglass stuff from the 70's that they keep perpetuating is good stuff, just irrelevant.
My 06 CC 4.8 gets 23-24mpg unloaded at 70+mph. gets 17-18mpg towing 4k lb open trailer/car and gets anout 19-20 just putzin around.

We just towed a total of under 2000 pounds in a dinky 8x12 enclosed trailer (moving) with my fathers 5.3 powered 2004 CC 1/2 ton 4x4. It got 20l/100km, that would be 12USMPG. You are not getting 75% better economy towing double the weight.

He doesn't lie, he has a 2WD truck, 4.8L engine, and relatively high gears. Driving style and terrain also plays a big role in MPG.
