I remember seeing something about it a while back but never checked back in. Pretty crazy, and I would love to see them succeed!

It's a Jag V8 now, since Jaguar is sponsoring them. Although I think using a less asplodey engine is a good idea anyway.
Seems like a low flying aircraft just dragging the landing gear along the ground to meet the "car" criteria.

Unlimited LSR cars have been that way for the last 50 years.
I read the title as "100 MPH" and was wondering what was so impressive about something that nearly every car I've owned could do. In fact, if you found a hill large enough I'm pretty sure the old 240 I had for a brief time could do it too. Don't think I'd want to be in it at that point, but given enough gravity and I'm sure it could have made it.
This is pretty cool.

They should just go for the altitude record for a car then.
Just imagine how depressing it would be to have that speedo installed in your DD POS that never gets over 60 MPH.

I've always wanted to nerd out and put all of my gauges in absolute terms and scientific units.
So, your temperature gauge starts at absolute zero, and is in Kelvin. Your speed goes from 0 to C in meters per second, the tach would be in radians per second...
But this is way cooler. I'll also bet money the guy never looks at it. What is the second gauge for?
So the motor doesn't turn the wheels at all, right? What's the fastest car with a connection between the crank/turbine and wheels?

George Poteet did it a couple of years ago.

Straight down would be 12, and it's made by Rolex.
I'm pretty sure it's the world's fastest watch.

The other gauge is the chronographer for the one hour turn around.

It looks like an F-104 on wheels because its an F-104 on wheels.

this part still tickles me, 540 hp FUEL PUMP!! i guess when you need 40 liters of fuel per second the ol' Walbro pump is a little bit of a let down

They could fund the project by selling copies of these. I would so put the speedometer in the Molvo. Law says it has to have a speedometer
